I just upgraded from a 5S to the Iphone10-something. Wait til you use the camera on "portrait" mode! It is amazing!

Jojo - your conversion from the 5S was somewhat of an inspiration for me to make a change as well : - ) I know from experience there are some things I thought I absolutely did not want that I ended up really enjoying (gas fireplace for example) and I'm sure the new big phone will be the same. The older I get the more I remind myself of the need not to get stuck in my ways.

Jo, why did you not upgrade to one of the 11s? Just curious because I want to upgrade my 6 and was going to get the 11 ( not Pro). I could save a few bucks if I went with the 10 though. I have seen the portrait mode on other people’s phones and love it.

I’m still on the fence but my 6S is starting to have issues. I was hoping it would make it until they introduce an iPhone that’s 5G capable but who knows when that will be.

I upgraded from a 6 to a XS in gold. I love it. I bought a clear case, so I could enjoy the color!

Ded, I really didn’t need the three-camera upgrade. That seemed to be the biggest difference between the 10 and the 11. And honestly, going from a 5 to a ten was a quantum leap all on its own.

I just got an 11 -- not the pro and I LOVE IT!!! The camera is even more amazing! The pictures -- oh, my!

I just went from the 6 to the regular 11 and while I’m happy to go to a fully functioning phone again, it’s not been without some annoyance at “upgraded” features. I much prefer having the home button with fingerprint access to the “upgrade” of facial recognition and finger swiping to close open apps. It takes several swipes in just the right spot to access open apps in order to close them. The facial recognition is not as reliable/easily used as the fingerprint touch.

i lost the ability to use headphones and charge my 11 at the same time. There is no longer a separate port for headphones. My favorite headphones (Panasonic earbuds) no longer can be plugged into my phone and I hate the earbuds that come with Apple products. I do a lot of long distance driving with kids in the car - not being able to plug my headphones in to listen to audiobooks while also charging my phone is a PITA. I use Waze while driving and that drains the battery on long drives. I did buy an accessory that allows you to plug the charger and headphones in at some time, but it is not Apple approved (Apple does not make one) and the sound quality is bad, has static.

There are a few other things to get used to but these two things have been the biggest, and most negative, change for me. But that said, I’m generally happy with my iPhone 11. I got the lavender one and bought a clear Otterbox case for it. But honestly, I don’t really care about the color that much.

I just upgraded from an 8 Plus to an 11 Pro. You will love the camera. This was taken last week at Bellagio's conservatory. No editing or enhancing.

Houzz does not like my photo size. LOL

Went to see the Eagles, which was an amazing concert. They played Hotel California in its entirety, then 23 more songs. 40 piece orchestra during several songs, small choir during others.

Allison, do you think the phone in the 11 Pro is a big improvement over the 8+? The 8+ camera was so much better than any other cameras and I’ve been on the fence about upgrading.

I'm wondering how the facial recognition works in the dark - thinking that might be a negative but maybe not. I guess I'll find out tonight after I get it. I'm also not looking forward to the wireless earbuds as the apple shape doesn't work for me - pains my ears. Fortunately I don't use them that often - mostly to listen to music when riding my exercise bike. I can use the old phone for that if I have to. I do use the camera a lot - that and the smaller size made it clear I'd buy the 11 Pro. Off to get it soon.

This comment is from a luddite who doesn't even own a phone so take it with a grain of salt. Some people are having trouble downloading photos onto this site so with allison's comment in mind, could the cameras on the phones be getting too sophisticated for Houzz to work with? Just wondering.

blfenton, nothing to do with the photos, phones or cameras, but simply Houzz's website coding and lack of support to fix any bugs.

6 months ago I traded my iPhone 6 for a XR. I've never been one to join the upgrade race and find Apple to be an extremely annoying company in general. The only reason I have anything Apple is because I won an iPad years ago and I do enjoy it. Then when my Droid phone died after 6 years my kids talked me into an iPhone and then for Christmas DH gave me a Macbook Pro. So I am now another member of the Apple cult.

Now for the first time I am going to upgrade to an 11 Pro - I spent the morning with my DDIL and my one and only granddaughter who is 5 months old. She upgraded from a 7 to the 11 Pro and her photos were wonderful. She was showing me the different lighting options that were easy and quick to change. I enjoy taking photos but pulling a camera out of my purse to snap a spontaneous photo just doesn't cut it. I'm going to Scotland for 2 weeks in May and I know I'll be thrilled with the photos.

I switched from an iPhone 7 to an 11 pro. It look me about a day to get used to the facial recognition and lack of a button. Facial recognition works well in the dark but It took a couple of days for it to work consistently. Love the battery life and the camera (my primary reasons for getting a new phone). I’m also happy with the improved screen clarity. The only problem I’ve had is with the power button on the right side. I keep pressing it accidentally when I grab the phone to carry around.

Glad you like the phone. Wireless earbuds did not come with my phone. I was disappointed to see the plane we were on required the rounded end for movies, etc.

We have a business account and the $0 down, $12.50 a month for a total of $260+ and the phone is mine was too good to pass up for a $1K phone.

Well my earbuds weren't actually wireless. I knew the new phones didn't have the same earbud port so my comfortable ones would no longer work. I was thinking it was wireless but it's just a different type of port. As mentioned above - audio uses the charging port.

This morning I heard on the news that Apple will be coming out next year with an SE2 - a new small phone. I’ll be interested to see if I like this big 11Pro so much I keep using it then of if I unload it in favor of another smaller phone.

I am going to the apple store to decide between the green or gold 11 Pro. I have a gold 6S. What are the pros and cons of purchasing an iphone at the Apple store vs from Verizon, my provider?

Not sure about Verizon but when I tried to buy mine at the AT&T store they didn't have any. Apple store also didn't have any green so that made the gold decision for me. I didn't notice any difference buying at one place or the other though the Apple store guy may have been more knowledgeable about transferring everything from the old phone though I can't say that for sure.

Happy2b, I bought our new iPhones at Sam’s Club two weeks ago. I compared their deal with Verizon and Apple but neither had anything that was better. Verizon was offering a buy one, get one free for the X, but it required an upgrade to a more expensive plan that in the long run, would just cost me more over time. At Sam’s, I got the 11 and my kids upgraded from the 6 and an SE to the XR. For each phone, I got $150 gift cards. I don’t know how long they are having that promo, but since I buy all our gas at Sam’s, we will easily go thru that $450.

Apple does provide credit if your old phone is in good condition. for my iphone6, IIRC, Apple was offering $60 for it if i send it back. I haven’t turned in yet b/c it’s smaller size makes it better for listening to music when I run. Trying to decide it it’s worth keeping for that reason.
