OBF October Swap...SIMPLY SEEDS....BAKER CREEK STYLE!

Before I post the swap for October, please read the following rules.

Our Blooming Friends Swap Group [0BF] was created to have a reliable, fair and safe haven to swap and trade between group members.

Membership requests should be sent to Shirley [Brittneysgran]

And the rules:

1. Have fun! No bickering!

2. Send your swap by posted deadline. If you are going to be late in sending, please POST that on the swap thread.....

3. Always include a Delivery Confirmation/Tracking number and

post it on the swap thread when you send the package. Post after you have sent your swap.

4. Please send things that you yourself would enjoy receiving.

5. Please post after you have received your swap and post what you have received

6..You will be required to replace a swap package that does not make

it to your partner, for any reason. Also you'll be required to replace any item that arrives broken/damaged.

7. If for some reason, you must pull out of a swap, please let the swap host know ASAP.

8. Have FUN and ENJOY!!

Let us keep it simple and inexpensive this month of October, You won't have to go to the post office to mail a package. You won't have to mail a package or envelope from your home. Simply you will send your partner three packets of seeds (herbs, vegetables, tomatoes, flowers ) DIRECT from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. Shipping is always free at Baker Creek and they include a free packet of seeds with every order. They do send a tracking number when they ship. Yes, you will be ordering seeds for your partner and having Baker Creek send them directly to your partner. I would guess that most of our members have ordered from Baker Creek before. That is it. Easy does it!!

When signing up to swap, if you like, please post several kinds of seeds that might be of interest to you. The fact that you post seeds that you would like does not mean you will receive them.

Send by October 24....My experience with Baker Creek, is that they usually ship within 2-5 days after I order.

Margo and Annie we flew into Phoenix then traveled to Jerome and Sedona. 30 years ago we visited and saw the grand canyon but loved seeing it again. Really enjoyed seeing the Montezuma Castle and also riding the Verde Canyon Railroad. Such beautiful Country.

Happy Birthday, Erica! Emily, I'm amazed my cookbook reached you so quickly. Annie, you are so generous with the prizes - will be excited to get something in the mail - other than the overflow of catalogs, magazines, junk mail, etc. Annie, poor Emily will be be embarrassed to hold on the the envelope I sent my cookbook in. I only had one that was large enough and it was previously used so I put everything inside and wrapped the used envelope in paper cut from a grocery store bag. Do I get extra points for recycling? LOL Shirley, we may be close to getting some frost, but not tonight. I was upset that my pepper plants which I have tried to care for most of the summer are finally blooming and starting to grow peppers. I think they will be moved into and out of the garage for awhile. I not only want the peppers, but I want to save some pepper seeds! I haven't quite figured out the OBF football game. Some of you know I follow the Gamecocks at the University of South Carolina. They were not having a great year so far and then Coach Spurrier resigned this week and there was an interim head ball coach announced ... but the Gamecocks won their game today so maybe all of this will get straightened out. The teams we played the last two weeks have been very generous providing supplies for the flood victims, bottled water, and other assistance. My husband found a weather web site with a huge number of pictures of the flood. We were not here for most of those days - it looked so horrible. Of course, we worried a lot while we were away, but seeing it may have been worse. We still have water streaming through our horse pasture and it has been warm and sunny all week. My adorable and inspiring Great Pumpkin Cookbook from Ruth Arrived yesterday with the mail forwarded from AZ. It's a winner even if it took the scenic route and arrived after the contest ended.. I love Pumpkin in almost any fashion (NO Pumpkin Spice Lattes for me) and have a good supply of nice winter squash. Look forward to trying several of these recipes.Tammy also sent laminated cards with substitutions and measures. Very useful and handy thanks Tammy. Again sorry about all the confusion over addresses and deliveries but All's well that ends well. I am redoing and expanding your book a bit should get it done and mailed by the end of the week

I see that also. our neighborhood posted a map for those that were giving out candy. Parents are leading and directing the children. To much traffic and people just not wanting to partiapate. I had 2 friends go to dinner so they didn't have to deal with it. .

As far as swaps being received, I know that Susan received hers from me this past Friday....checked the tracking. I checked the tracking on Susan's package to me and it looks like delivery should be on Tuesday. My records show everyone else has received. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hello yes picked up my mail last night. So excited to try all these wonderful seeds next year. Thank you for all the fun colors. I am in Gatlinburg hoping for a fall leaf show. Just spots of red. The drive down was a breeze. Going to a lookout area tomorrow to enjoy the fall weather.

Susan we will be in Gatlinburg Oct. 31...The leaves have not turned much at all because of the hot and dry weather. Best rain in months and months yesterday. You should hike Mount Leconte, it's awesome.

70 today in Gatlinburg. There is a open fire ban.our hotel will not even allow fireplaces lit. Pigeon forge lifted the back country fire ban today. With reminder of low water levels. The trees in the mountains are red and green.

Jayeanne.....LOL! BBBBBUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....That is to funny....I have never seen"big jars boiled peanuts in cheese garnish" at Costco, or anywhere else for that matter...haha!

Jayeanne, you are on your own on this one.....no one else can guess. BUT you do have two words correct. The "in" is in the proper place (I have filled it in below). There is another word you have correct but you do not have it in the correct place.

Happy Halloween, we've got candy ready for the little ghosts and goblins tonight.

We woke up to 31 degrees with a feel like of 21 this morning. Our first freeze is usually around Thanksgiving. A few of my plants got brought inside but most did not. It's been raining for days and the pots were just too heavy for just me to deal with by myself. I have a lot of new plants from local swaps and sales and my brugmansias had a lot of buds finally. Oh well, I'll see the damage later today.
