I'd like to sign up for October! Actually I don't do bulbs, really but plants would be appreciated although I don't know if anyone will still have any to send. I am just about opposite of all the rest of the crew. This is the start of the season where plants are really enjoyed. We gardeners out here stay outside from October to April planting and nuturing etc! I really like Halloween since that's my anniversary. You know, "Honey there are kids dressed up in costume at the door asking for candy -- what day is it? It's our Anniversary!! LOL!

My adorable and inspiring Great Pumpkin Cookbook from Ruth Arrived yesterday with the mail forwarded from AZ. It's a winner even if it took the scenic route and arrived after the contest ended.. I love Pumpkin in almost any fashion (NO Pumpkin Spice Lattes for me) and have a good supply of nice winter squash. Look forward to trying several of these recipes.Tammy also sent laminated cards with substitutions and measures. Very useful and handy thanks Tammy. Again sorry about all the confusion over addresses and deliveries but All's well that ends well. I am redoing and expanding your book a bit should get it done and mailed by the end of the week

Just got back from a trip to the south, Virginia to be exact. My husband and I are thinking of moving there for our retirement. Anyone have any input for us? We looked at the Roanoke area and love it. Then we headed East to the areas near Williamsburg but ruled that out.

The canines pulled another one for me. I have six words so far.

I am bringing home the hole punch from work tomorrow and will be working on the finishes of my book in the next few days. Looks like I will probably be mailing right on deadline.

Annie, thanks for the extension. I could use an extra day or two. I had everything done except the cover before we went on our trip and have been working every day since I got back. Lots of displays and changes to make at the store that by the time I get home, I'm too tired to tackle the project. Tomorrow we go to Cincinnati to celebrate two boys bdays. All three of our boys were born in October as was our grandson. As a matter of fact, little Brayden turned two today.

Shirley, yes it will just be Adrian and I. Our youngest is in college and I don't think he has plans to move back to these parts. All our kids do not this part of Ohio and only one is still in the area and her long range plan is to move away two. Two of them are still in Ohio but one plans to move to a southern state in the next year or two so no real reason to stay here. Everyone will be all spread out, might as well be in a central and wonderful location.

Bingo word seven for me today. Go doggies, go! Speaking of go, go Baylor.

I am enjoying some last looks at the garden here. The cup plants in bloom and the sunchokes with their edible rhizhomes. The fleabane. Sedum. Matt's Wild Cherry tomatoes. Buddleia keeps going. The Cardinal Climber vine reseeded it's beautiful self, and so did the cosmos and sunflowers. If you are using pressed leaves to make cards, I recommend these lacy fingered Cardinal Climber leaves. Margo-My Cousin and her Husband are buying a house here in the Mountains, she retires in March (at age 55). I stayed way too long with my job and don't have an early retirement plan. I can't afford not to have insurance so I have another year after this one. We may have to visit one another, Virginia is not that far.

Mary-Good luck on your moving. You will get settled in just before the Winter Season.

Well they are calling for frost tonight so I brought all my house plants back in the house. They do so much better on the deck and porches.

We got together another group of ladies last night and taught them how to play BUNCO. Everyone really liked it so we will continue at least once a month playing.

    Happy Birthday, Erica!

Emily, I'm amazed my cookbook reached you so quickly. Annie, you are so generous with the prizes - will be excited to get something in the mail - other than the overflow of catalogs, magazines, junk mail, etc.

Annie, poor Emily will be be embarrassed to hold on the the envelope I sent my cookbook in. I only had one that was large enough and it was previously used so I put everything inside and wrapped the used envelope in paper cut from a grocery store bag. Do I get extra points for recycling? LOL

Shirley, we may be close to getting some frost, but not tonight. I was upset that my pepper plants which I have tried to care for most of the summer are finally blooming and starting to grow peppers. I think they will be moved into and out of the garage for awhile. I not only want the peppers, but I want to save some pepper seeds!

I haven't quite figured out the OBF football game. Some of you know I follow the Gamecocks at the University of South Carolina. They were not having a great year so far and then Coach Spurrier resigned this week and there was an interim head ball coach announced ... but the Gamecocks won their game today so maybe all of this will get straightened out. The teams we played the last two weeks have been very generous providing supplies for the flood victims, bottled water, and other assistance. My husband found a weather web site with a huge number of pictures of the flood. We were not here for most of those days - it looked so horrible. Of course, we worried a lot while we were away, but seeing it may have been worse. We still have water streaming through our horse pasture and it has been warm and sunny all week. We are ready for things to dry out.

Well, time for bed here. Enjoy your day tomorrow!

Way to go Margo 191 points...I don't think anyone will catch you.

Jeanne-Yes the frost got here and is supposed to be again tonight. My dahlias were just gorgeous, really sorry to see them gone. I gathered every seed I could find yesterday on my plants.

Off to a wedding, My nephew joined the Army last year and met the sweetest girl also in the Army. Today is their big day. Sad but her Mom passed away a month ago so she won't get to see her beautiful daughter's wedding.

Shirley, thanks for posting because it reminded me I need to dig up my dahlia rhizomes for next year. At least that will be something I can take if we do move before the plants start coming up next year. I feel if we do move, it won't be until late spring or during the summer so I should be able to take a lot. I know I have a lot of things to do before we can put the house on the market. Mostly get rid of a lot of stuff collected over the years. Margo

Oh Jack frost told all my dahlias the season is over. The brugs had blooms but never got there. So I didn't get to see the color. Plaanted my red tulips and crouses . Now the ground is so dry. Shirley- A Military wedding how sweet. Sorry but I only follow the NFL. But the Wildcats should do better. It is wonderful the Gamecocks have helped flood victims. My heart goes out to you all. . But my nights have been the baseball playoff. Ready for the world Series. . I wish they would not spit so much. Yuck Went to west Virgina this weekend. My grandgrandson wanted to announce they are 8 weeks expecting. Made a major production. They drove 14 hours to tell us. in person. They have only been married 5 months. Jeane Cute theme I am sending out today. Kept wanting something special. I think I found it. Nikki Let you have tracking tonight. Have a great day girls Susan
