Please help me with my floating shelves
Comments (9)Seeing your two mock-ups above, I think it would could work either way. IMHO, however, your first instinct was probably better: it does balance better, it prevents a glass corner from sticking out that close to the range, and it allows more breathing room for a behind-the-range feature if you ever plan to add one. Your original order and idea will look better, just in m opinion, since you asked. I'm estimating that those are 15 inch lowers on each side, which would give you a very nice visual "breathing space" on either side of the hood. Oh, and if you win the lottery and want to install a tile or other backsplash from range top, all the way to the ceiling, you'd still be able to do it without removing the shelves. The kitchen looks great so far!...See MoreHelp me plan my Pantry shelving please!
Comments (19)Your pantry is 5'6" wide. I'd want at least a 3' wide aisle. So... If you want shelves on both sides, I would put 12" deep on both sides - that leaves you with 3'6" of aisle width - a nice width. It's wide enough to allow you to bring in grocery bags w/o having to juggle them. It's also wide enough to easily carry appliances in/out. I'd consider the cabinet/counter idea on the short side. It gives you more options for storage. You could have a 36" wide set of drawers plus nice counterspace. You could put upper cabinets above for more storage. +++++++++++ IF there's a refrigerator in the pantry...it shouldn't go right up against the wall where you show it b/c the wall is deeper than the refrigerator's box and that means the doors and handles will not extend into an open space and the doors won't open fully (depending on the # of doors and the location of the hinges.) I suggest putting in a 12" wide pullout utility cabinet for broom, mop, etc. b/w the wall and refrigerator. The shelves on that wall would then begin next to the refrigerator. I had a thought - you might consider an 18" wide standard base cabinet next to the refrigerator for landing space for the refrigerator. Maybe have 12" deep shelves on one side and 9" on the other to provide better aisle b/w the refrigerator & shelves on the opposite wall. These are two options I was thinking of with the refrigerator: Option 1: Landing space b/w wall & refrigerator; no utility cabinet; 21" of open shelves above the landing space Option 2: 12" utility cabinet b/w wall & refrigerator; 18" cabinet for landing space next to refrigerator; top shelves from refrigerator to bottom wall....See MorePlease help me style my living room

Comments (10)Great looking entry! I really like your style. Those floors are fabulous. I love the wallpaper. The entry is certainly large and open enough to handle one small area of it. It’ll be a great accent, very interesting and individual. Agree about pulling a color or colors from the paper for a cushion, rug, etc. As far as decor on the built-in, I’d live with it a bit and see what you might need (how you use it), and what direction you want to go. Get the paper up, get a rug, and go from there. I think a unique mirror on the wall between the doorways (across from front door) would look nice. But again, get that lovely paper up and let it influence your other choices. You clearly have excellent taste. Take your time and find decor that really speaks to you and your great sense of style. ETA: If you haven’t already, google/search your wallpaper. Lots of images come up of it in other’s homes that might give some inspiration and ideas....See Moregroveraxle
