I'm no at all familiar with the first insect. I think that must be something we don't have here in the Seattle area. The second insect (3rd picture) I can definitely say is not a wasp, although it is probably a bee mimic. It is actually a fly, and perhaps a syrphid fly. Try googling that name and click on "image" at the top of the google page to get all the images of syrphid fly online. If that's what it is it is probably a predator of aphids. It could also be a hover fly, although that may be the same thing?? They're great fun to watch in the garden and love any flowers from the carrot/dill family. Cabbage/mustard family flowers are also good for attracting beneficial insects.

....the little black "dots" you see are their fecal matter. Whenever you DONT see cats this is a good indicator. Sorry don't know your specific creature, but as Jean suggested and if it were me, I would be out there with a soapy bucket of water and dropping every one I could find. But before you kill them all, I would take one to the local county extension office and see about a positive ID. Vera

Pileas are very cute and apparently addictive! Enjoy the googling - I love them when they are older and have a bit of a trunk to give them character, rather than the baby form with just a rosette of coin-shaped leaves. What you have is an adorable baby Monstera - give her some dilute fertilizer, and a bit of light, and she'll sprout 'grown-up' leaves with holes in them in a hurry for you! I bought a little one just like this about a month ago and it's happily sprouting new leaves for me under grow lights (I'm in Norway so very high latitudes and autumn is already very dark). I hope to repot her in a while to a larger pot (since she's growing actively under lights), because they are supposed to grow into whatever size of pot you give them (though obviously you have to increase it somewhat gradually), and I have a corner in the house we are moving to shortly earmarked for her future giant self! <3 As best I understand it, Split-leaf Philodendron (Philodendron bipinnatifidum) is actually a different plant altogether, and the leaves do resemble Monstera's adult foliage a lot, but it's much more rare in cultivation, not nearly as easy, and in my opinion also less pretty.

So today I noticed this brown edge on the fenestration of my monstera, one week ago she didnt have anything of the sort so now I am a bit freaking out. Upon inspecting past photos, I see she had a faint line at that spot that has now ripped - attaching photo of that as well - it is with the red circle. She looks healthy otherwise, growing a new leaf steadily. She is in a mixture of soil for gree plants, orchids soil, perlite and a bit of coconut coir. I havent watered her in a week as the soil is still moist. As the weather here is still not very warm or bright, she is under a growing lamp for the time being and is kept inside at constant temperatures and humidity at around 60%. She is also in a plant bag instead of a pot to allow for better breathing. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated! Thank you! underside of leaf: Past photo:
