Back to the drawing board, Birdbaths Needed drainage holes:
Comments (21)" I'm in Riverside and would love to get a simple birdbath without breaking the bank. Do you know of any place?" Google the three words: birdbath riverside california and you will get a zillion and a half hits, maybe more. Don't forget to consider running about four feet of quarter inch drip line before you set the bird bath base in concrete, if that's the way you want to set it. It's harder later, but you don't have to use it anytime soon. That's even useful for a birdbath that's going to be just a bird bath! Here is a link that might be useful: Google: birdbath riverside california...See MoreBid $140,000 ack! Back to drawing board...layout help please.
Comments (10)Elyse, I am so glad you are at home here. It often feels like a family because we understand each other and value honest-to-goodness quality over flashy bits of less consequence. A handmade gift that you will lovingly treasure and use says a lot about your relationship. I'm glad you like the plan! The Napanee is the baking center. It has all the ingredients, measuring cups & bowls, rolling pins, etc. Elyse & Rhome, I am not sure where the dishes will go. We have just a few. The first and second shelf of a wall cabinet holds all I need. They could go in the cab to the right of the sink, the cab to the right of the cooktops or the end cab in the island. I got rid of my barrier island! Rhome, I though you would notice that right away. :D I could put in a third sink, but that seems like overkill in this size kitchen. Moving the island sink toward the cooktop would decrease the prep space. Kat, I love the image of a jewel box kitchen! Keep the faith for continuing to work on your dream house. Our first remodel was 21 years ago. Our second chance finally came. Yours will too. What has happened is kind of funny. When we began planning this project two years ago DH had uneducated expectations. The kitchen was planned for the middle of the house because the room where the kitchen is now could not be adapted to a new kitchen, and it was isolated from everyone and everything. The room was too small, had too many functions and had too many openings. The estimates from the big box stores were higher than what he hoped would be the entire project would cost. He thought three rooms would need remodeling if the kitchen was moved. If the kitchen was in the back of the house (where it is now), only two rooms would need work. He didn't consider laundry and a way to get into the house from the garage. He doesn't cook or clean or do laundry; how was he to know what I needed? He knows now, I am always saying, ''see, this is why I need a new kitchen''. hehe When the bids came in so high, I decided to take another look at the first idea. I am happier with the simpler plan and the kitchen in the middle of the house. So, we'll see what happens tomorrow. Judy...See MoreHelp with back splash fo granite I don't like
Comments (20)How accurate are those photos for actual color? Would it serve better to draw out that squash gold or the gray? (Personally, I think there's more than enough of the pinky yellow.) Or introduce an accent that matches the wood? What feeling does the owner prefer: warm colors? cool colors? Are there other colors or patterns in the room that need to be considered? Formal or informal? Budget? DIY or pro install? Access to vendors? Personal preferences for materials? Has she taken the Sweeby test? Definitely avoid small mosaic glass tiles unless they're a trim band no more than 3 inches tall and positioned at least 10 inches above the counter and are a good match with the countertop. srg215's monocolor solution has a lot of wisdom to it, and the tile size is big enough to provide a larger, regular counterpoint (pun intended) to the countertop's irregular pattern. It defuses it, although his/her granite has fewer color tones than this one. Definitely recommend living with this for a while and perhaps trying out some colors and textures via paint, fabrics, kitchen objects, maybe wallpaper or stencil. Tile backsplashes are generally expensive enough and permanent enough to set this owner up with a second reason for dissatisfaction if she rushes into things....See MoreBack to the Drawing Board - Pulling our hair out
Comments (31)josey11 if you just google allison ramsey bermuda bluff 2313 that specific plan will show up we made a couple of changes took out the door between kitchen and entry (replaced it with a desk in the kitchen) took 6 or 8 inches out of the back of the coat closet and made a can pantry in the kitchen (in addition to the pantry already there) put hooks in the coast closet two rows of them and they are good for coats umbrellas, caps/hats etc we really like that took out the fireplace (we live south of houston texas don't really need a fireplace now we have lots of room for a freezer in the store room my main concerns were if the gr would feel small with chairs sofas and dining room furniture.. and it does not we have a 48 in round dining table with three leaves and we used all of those for the holidays and we have 3 big men's recliners and a large leather chair with ottoman and a really big sofa in there and it's not too crowdedwe have quite a bit of storage upstairs in the attic spaces and lots in the store room i have empty shelves everywhere our island is almost double the size of the one in the plan......See Moreeld6161
