Help with Corner Wall Cabinet or Shelves?
Comments (4)Ugh, corners. I've been plagued with trying to figure out what to do with ours. I have had so many different thoughts, and every time I think we've got it, I run across something new. Like this. (I know it's not a picture of a corner but it sparked my imagination for my corner.) jasdesignbuild.com I realized it won't work with pots and pans in a corner, but I'd still like to try something like it on either side of the stove. You could do a shelf at the height of the top of the backsplash all the way across, from the left end of the counter all the way to the wall. On either side of the backsplash you could put another shelf further down, also with rods below or small hanging shelves (kind of like the one with your spices) and/or with brackets to give it a hutch-like appearance. You could do the same thing but only extend halfway to the left edge and to the wall, and leave room on the fridge wall for a wall cabinet going from fridge to wall. I wouldn't do pegboard... very utilitarian but garage-y. If you're hanging skillets anyway, you won't get any more use out of it than this kind of thing. If that kind of storage is needed and helpful, I'd at least avoid doing it front and center in your kitchen, especially over your lovely backsplash. WRT backsplash, I'm not very good at those, but again, I would let your stove backsplash almost stand alone, with the floorboards you mentioned and some paint. Here are some other corners (I attempted to resize Oxleaze and Crown Point to no avail): Oxleaze Workshop, UK Crown Point House Beautiful FWIW, we have a similar layout but a little more space from fridge to corner and range to corner. On the fridge wall I am having cabinets all the way to counter except in corner, where it will be open for the standard 18" for the toaster oven to live. Other than that, we won't have any wall cabinets. Sink wall, no uppers Fridge wall, to right of sink wall...See MoreBuilt-in corner cabinets in dining room or dining area
Comments (6)annab6...I was looking at corner cabinets after reading this thread. Are yours flush with the wall? I found an example of one that looks like what you might find in an old house. (See link) It's sort of a black and white rendition but looks like it's treated like the trim. I love built-ins and I love corner cabinets so your thread got me looking at them :-) Thanks monablair :-) I think my builder thought I was nuts when I said I wanted cabinets the whole width of the room. He kept saying SHOW me what you want so DH and I drew these one night on a napkin when eating and talking about it at Chili's...lol. We still laugh about our napkin drawing I handed the builder. Comments (26)Well on the spike thing...that candle stand is an antique and rather pricy, so I don't really want to start taking heavy tools to it LOL Gad you girls are aggressive when you want something! The drapes (KD STOP THAT...I WAS DROOLING!!!) are a beautiful silk and linen weave that I purchased in LA (fabric district) several years ago. I have 30 yards of 120" wide in a tone on tone stripe (about 2" wide stripe, but very very subtle). They're pretty much in the amber tone on that first page of KD's evil link. I actually have them in two tones, one has just the tinest hint of green, like old gold would, again on a tone on tone stripe. I was going to make simple headers for the kitchen from that one and then do the dining room with the straight gold so that it would be a nice flow of color and texture. I picked up a little fir of some sort at Fred Meyers last night (about 5' tall) which I'll throw in the hole until the holidays are over. I think it's a good idea to wait until the drapes are done. They'll be lined so they will have some visable and actual weight to them, and will normally be pushed to that side since the door is on the opposite end. Getting a 12' transom rod with no center support has been a big of a challenge so I just haven't started the drapes. (Or that's the excuse I'm using this week LOL)...See MoreDining Room Wall & Corner Decor
Comments (1)You have a lot of space so mirror and shelf both things can be attached. In the middle you can add the mirror and on both sides shelves will be good.
