is that white around the window wood trim? or is it the window? if trim, I would remove it and tile up underneath the cabinets. I just put in a new kitchen with white cabinets, gold handles and my backsplash is subway tiles from Bedrosians, called Cashmere, they look more like a champagne gold. I love them. the kitchen is not completed yet! the pulls are Amerock champagne gold,

IMO you can wait for backsplash for a very long time and I honestly would not choose white I woudld choose a gray from the counters in a large format glass subway tile and I never like mixing real stone with fake it does not do either material a favor. The other option would be a large backspals in the same material as the counter.
