Is this light fixture too small for our entry way?
Comments (2)We're just across the water from you. :-) That is a very cool fixture, but I think you're right to be concerned about its small size in the scale of your room, especially because of the 10 ft ceilings. Our entry is 8'6" x 10' with 9 ft ceilings and next to our stairway. Our fixture is about 15" in diameter by 12" in ht. The size works with the scale of the room, but the one bulb is not as bright as I'd wish it to be. Your selection may offer more down-light, though. We have nice, bright recessed lighting in the hallway directly in front of this space, and, of course, stairway lighting, but I don't think those really improve the entry lighting situation very much. Determining the right size and scale for lighting fixtures was one of the biggest challenges. I'm jealous of your Hubbardton Forge fixtures...They're, by far, my favorites, but wouldn't fit in our budget. Enjoy, and best wishes!...See MoreIs this light fixture too small for our entry way?
Comments (2)I am no lighting expert, but my thought is that this will be too small for 10' ceilings. I am building a new home with 10' ceilings too and I know this will be a consideration for me when I choose my lighting. I think there is probably some ratio or rule of thumb on size--maybe do a Google search?...See MoreFan & Light fixture color
Comments (2)I have a hard time understanding "should". If you like white fans (and your reason is certainly valid), but not a white light, then don't have a white light! You're not getting marked on your choices :-) and won't be voted off the island if you're "wrong" (how can you be wrong in your own house - are there really rules about matching fans and light fixtures?)? Trust your own judgment and remember you have to live with the things, not some passing stranger....See MoreChandelier for Front Entrance
Comments (4)I would do one large fixture in the center of the entire entrance area. Preferably that will center up with the center staircase. How tall are the ceilings on the entrance? It looks like they are the full two story height. I realize how hard it is to get a picture of the entire space so if possibly draw out the floor plan of this space to give us a feel of how everything likes up and where each feature (door, window, stairs etc) are....See Morejonette erhardt
