How Is Your Weather This Weekend?
Comments (18)Most of the week-end was nasty--cold and overcast. I spent those sunny afternoons last week moving and stacking debris from having the barn re-sided, then we had a huge bonfire (a pile 10' x 20' x 4', and there's still more), on Friday night. Thank goodness, because Saturday afternoon we had a heavy rain, then a wind storm. Yesterday we had snowballs. I heard something hitting the windows and looked out to see tiny balls of snow--too dry to be sleet, and not hail, just little balls of snow crystals, about the size of those styrofoam balls that are used for bean bags. That lasted only a few minutes, but the cold is still here. We have sunshine this morning, but I'm ready for winter to be over, and it hasn't officially started....See MoreHow is your weather where you are today?
Comments (69)Thanks, Josephene. And many happy returns to you!! Hope you have something fun planned. He was a pretty great cat. Easily the best of any I've had the privilege to know and live with. He thought he was more dog than cat....came when called, liked to accompany my dog and I on walks, played 'fetch' and was a superior hunter. Affectionate, attentive and adaptable - easily tolerated the 5 moves in the last 10 years. He and the dog were best friends. They groomed each other, played together and often shared a bed. The dog is pining a bit too, wandering the house looking for him. I will evetually get him a new cat companion. Thought I might plant some catmint in spring to mark his grave. He didn't really care about it (or catnip) but it seems appropriate somehow :-) And it is a space that could accommodate a robust, long flowering perennial like that....See MoreHow is Your Weather Today?
Comments (36)My weather sucks big time at the moment!! Pouring down rain again; same all day yesterday and tomorrow doesn't look much better. Flooding is cautioned in some areas but fortunately not near me. And it is dark and gloomy as well :-( Good day to stay indoors and do my Christmas prep. The PNW has a reputation for wet weather, especially at this time of year. But pouring down rain is not typical for us.....usually it is a persistent misty drizzle type of rainfall, not a constant heavy rain. Had to run out for a fast errand this morning and got drenched!! Looks like it will clear up by Sunday and through the holiday, though....See MoreHow is Your Weather Where You Are?
Comments (18)It's 67° here now, which is a lot cooler than the 80s we had in the middle of the week. I won't go in the pool when the air temperature is below 72°, unless I have just been in the spa. We're still heating the pool to 87°, and so it feels reasonably warm, but I don't like to be cold when I get out. We've had no wind lately, and so that helps. Yesterday there was not a cloud in the sky, and so it was very pleasant while swimming on my back. Today there were a few clouds. We have 12,000' mountains just to the west of us, and so the sun sets behind them earlier than it would otherwise, and so it starts to get dark by 4:30 PM, which is depressing to me. It stays light a lot longer in Los Angeles because it is further west, and then the sun sets into the ocean instead of mountains. Forecast for tomorrow is 72° and sunny....See MoreRichard (Vero Beach, Florida)
