Comments (34)I love Sally Holmes. I think a soft white with blushing pink is so romantic. Bolero has a palest pink center and a sometimes a pale green button eye. Gray leaved plants would look beautiful in this combination like artemisia or lamb's ear. Totoro's combination sounds gorgeous. Bolero stays small for me but it could be that she's just not quite hardy enough here. A friend in a warmer zone had some and they got fairly wide but not too tall. Just a nice rounded shrub. I think you could plant two together. My three Windermere are planted about 15 inches apart, a little closer than Austin suggests but it works fine in my colder zone. I don't have any pics since mine have barely woken up here but her flower is nice and she's probably my best repeat flowerer. Desdemona has gotten excellent reviews. I have three on order from Austin. It's supposed to stay short and smell amazing. both pics from DA site DesdemonaWindermere Bolero from Houzz The colors for Windermere and Bolero are pretty accurate. Windermere is softest creamy white. Bolero white blushed pink. The pink is more pronounced in cooler weather, at least for me. sharon...See MoreSugar Moon or Margaret Merrill?
Comments (13)I returned to the garden center and walked by the blooming Margaret Merrill and went to the tables of the other roses and found the one and only Sugar Moon. MM was so lush and healthy looking so I tried to imagine it covered in blackspot, which happens readily in my yard. The Sugar Moon has around 17 buds forming on mostly single stems. I don't think I have ever seen a rose bush with so many single stemmed flowers forming. I hope it's healthy and grows well. I have mostly given up on growing hybrid teas these days. I got rid of dozens of rose bushes and kept only the healthiest, which turned out to be 2 David Austins and a Romantica (Bolero), a Rugosa and a Bourbon rose. I did keep a coulple of HTs which weren't great but not terrible either. I do love their form. I just planted 2 new David Austins but they are still tiny so I don't know how they will do. Still, I can't resist hoping to find a HT that will flower and be healthy without a lot of fuss....See More2020 Color Threads: WHITE or NEARLY WHITE Roses
