Home Decorating Furniture Design Dilemma

Help - re-Decorating ideas for my home office/den.

Hello. I am going to be repainting our home office to a light tan colored wall. I will be keeping the desk and bookcase. I am looking for some ideas for in front of the windows. The room is 10 1/2 feet wide on the window wall. I was thinking about a couple of wingback chairs maybe with a coffee table in the middle? Or possibly a wingback style chair with an ottoman in the corner and maybe a table next to it? Not sure if that will fill up the space enough. Any ideas would be greatly appreciate!

Beautiful trim, gorgeous floor the current color will work of course. Going more mid-tone can be pretty amazing too Is the apartment yours, or is it rental? I'm asking because I'd be inclined to go with custom shades as not to obscure that trim..but of course only if the place is mine And I'd pick probably woven grass ones. Shades of natural brown, you know? Or you can go with fabric too. But if the walls stay light-I won't go too dark. Same with curtains. Or. If it's curtains..look at many..you might get inspired by the color you see in ones you like a lot, and "borrow" similar one for your walls. Rug can become an inspiration too. Again, you really don't have to repaint to get the vibe you want.

Daneejela and Lawrence that's what I tried to say but didn't do a good job of it I guess. Fill the back wall with shelving different depths to make it look the same depth. I don't see how the love seat can stay in the room and still be functional as an office. more pictures showing all 4corners of the room would help a lot. It just a guess not knowing where the door to the room is and the furnace that is mentioned is. I hate looking at a wall myself and never suggest it. Facing the door is the power position. Being able to see outside is a plus. Facing a wall is boring and tiring.

Thanks, Flo! I think based on the rug and desk, my colors are black, white, gold, and pink, with some touches of green. Because the desk is black and gold it feels like it could fit with an eclectic & modern Hollywood glam vibe. With the addition of that chair, or something similar, I am thinking the art could be a few colorful statement pieces? And the storage could be an all white or all black file cabinet in something other than metal?

I like the idea of a mural, and if you decide to go in that direction, choose a color from the mural and repaint the other walls. For me, the wall color is uninspiring. It's too close to the color of the carpet.

A chair (or two) with an ottoman and a table would be great, especially if you are sometimes able to work while sitting in a chair with your coffee, tea (wine) on the table next to you.

Is there any way to turn the desk so your back is not to the door and windows? That would bother me. It seems the shape of the desk fits the the way you have it but I wonder if you could turn and float it? If that worked then you also would be able to sit at the desk and talk with someone else in the new chair....I do see you don't have clients but I know my DH comes into my office and we chat. I don't work from home but bring work home and he sometimes comes in while I am finishing stuff up.

Will this be a reading corner, a place for an afternoon nap, a refuge from kids? I would also consider a chaise with a floor lamp and a small table for a drink or cuppa...
