Pics from weekend blooms
Comments (8)Debra, How did you know I got it from Aren't I pretty? Is that bad? I was thinking it may not be the same. It kinda resembles the pic thats on Tinkers though. Im not sure check out tinkers and tell me what you think. Im thinking that mabey Aren't I pretty doctored up their pic a little bit! Mabey I should e-mail them. they have good prices, but I did not order from them this yr. cause the plants I got from them were small compared to the ones I got from Marietta's which have great prices also. I always got more than the double fans ordered from Marietta's. Only got puney double fans from AIP. The flower I recieved is OK, but not what I expected, I was aiming to get some more fancy ones. That one is kinda just plain purple. OH well at least its not a stella! Let me know what you think. -Jessica...See MoreMonday, some pictures from the weekend.
Comments (4)Years ago when I first started flower gardening I just used to stick things here and there willy nilly. I was never satisfied with the results. In the end I had to redo all the hodgepodge anyway. Much better for me to plan it out. Then I actually lay it out using a combo of edging, sticks and bricks (for spacing and making were plants actually go) before I start planting. Things turn out better this way, at least for me. I don't start much from seeds (too busy) and I usually buy the mix colors cosmas by the flat at the nursery. Got those also but got lots of seeds of things I wanted to try. These are Cosmic Red Cosmos and I really like them. I have other colors of reds and yellows cosmos but I never got around to starting them. The Portulacas I bought plants but the other side of the cosmas are some Zahara Double Fire Zinnias that I also started myself from seed. Notice I picked really easy things to grow from seed. Cosmos and zinnias are about as easy as one can get LOL! That front yard gardenbed that I call the planterbox (were I just put the iris) I have been working on. I put the front part which is two rows of daylilies and needed to do something for the back. I decided the iris would be good because most of the time you really would not notice the row of iris (leaves only) back there but they get plenty of light by the terrace wall. Then in the spring they would be easy seen when they bloom....See MoreSome from the weekend
Comments (13)They are pretty Carla - I still have to see blooms on my Lady Emma this year, there are buds, just nothing looks set to open any time soon! Love the colour of Rotes Meer. Love the Clematis too. I just bought a few from Koi after seeing a thread about their sales, hope they do well. Last time I attempted to buy Clematis it was from Wayside and out of 10 only 2 have made it with only one blooming. I also got some from Costco - that was a mistake! None of them made it either. Thanks for sharing. Aprille...See MoreA little Texas Hill Country travelogue (9 pics)
Comments (7)Bravo! Beautiful photos, rcnaylor. My family used to live in Austin (some still do) and the Hill Country is so beautiful. Do you know the common name for the cactus...is it prickly pear? I think the botanical name is Opuntia something? We have one that we found in our lawn and my husband kept mowing over it. We finally transplanted it and it has bloomed last year and this year. I especially love the one with the church steeple peeking over the trees and the creek? river? shot. Pam...See More
