Not really about photography as much as just some nice scenery, which I didn't capture too proficiently, as the scenes themselves... but here are some from the weekend.

Very pretty, but it makes you really not want to walk through the fields! Ouch! Lol.

Bravo! Beautiful photos, rcnaylor. My family used to live in Austin (some still do) and the Hill Country is so beautiful. Do you know the common name for the cactus...is it prickly pear? I think the botanical name is Opuntia something? We have one that we found in our lawn and my husband kept mowing over it. We finally transplanted it and it has bloomed last year and this year.

I especially love the one with the church steeple peeking over the trees and the creek? river? shot.

Pam, you are now deemed as the official owner of a piece of .... I mean: a vintage item! LOL I'm planning to make a hanging air arrangment something like what is in the photo on the link directly below using a couple of bird cages, egg baskets, and wire chickens I bought from Rozanne. http://mykotori.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/tumblr_kx26r9ihfj1qzcp6io1_500.jpg I bought the skythe from Rozanne also. Some of the old tools have such a graceful shape. My grandmother used to sit on the ground and use grass clippers like the ones in the picture to edge the lawn. I love the shapes of the old spoons, and love to imagine who and how these old things were used ... Angie, yes the Texas Hill Country covers a wide area. This plant nursery is a few miles west of New Braunfels and a little over 20 miles north of San Antonio. The link below takes you to a little map on their website that will give you an idea of where it is located. Msmisk, they sprayed with something for the squash bugs (a black and red moth that looks like a wasp), or rather the caterpillars that enter the stems at the base of the plant where the moth lays eggs, but I'll have to email Andrea to ask the name. As I remember it was something that sounded like 'right'. Watch me be completely wrong on that ... LOL. Also when they noticed caterpillar frass they'd slit the stem and remove the caterpillar. The process does not harm the plant. Hopefully, Shirley remembers more. Patty, it was the peacock that I really fell in love with. My feeling about garden art is that if nothing is blooming at least the art collection is colorful!

We lived in New Orleans for many years, and all those places you mentioned are familiar. Where did you live in NOLA & which high school? When my husband told me we were moving, my very first thought was that my son wouldn't get to go to Ben Franklin H.S. I'm finally over it -- 14 years later ;) Thanks for including us on your adventure. These stories are great. I shed a tear though when you wrote about calling Robert & feeling homesick. they are indian blankets (i did a search)...we inherited a small bunch when we bought our place, didn't see them last year -- didn't know i liked them...now i'm gonna havta check to see if they're still there! :o)

IN picture #4, they yellow ones look like coneflowers to me.
Beautiful shots of a pretty part of the world. We have a friend in Fredericksburg and I love the area.
