Well...I need to find this layout program so I can not use so many words, but in the meantime... I'd try dividing the space into 2 areas, divided by the front door walkway. Both of my ideas involve moving that TV, though. I don't feel that TV is ideally placed for this room to function well... Option #1 - Move the TV and couch to the R side of the room. The TV/entertainment center (though I like TV's on the wall these days) could serve as the 'focal point' on that side of the room while the fireplace does the same for the other half. It's all about lounging/watching TV over there - while the L side provides a conversation area around the fireplace. I'd put a chair on each side of the fireplace (wing backs, etc) - which would also serve to hide that window unit. Option #2 - Move the TV over in front of the window unit. Put the couch facing the fireplace and perhaps a chair on each side with a coffee table/ottoman in the middle? The R side of the room then becomes a conversation area away from the TV. Or, a game table and chairs could provide another function. Or, if the family is musical, a piano and sitting area would be nice. Or, if the family is full of bibliophiles, bookcases along the perimeter and some cozy sitting areas for reading would provide a third option to help the house/room function. Or, I could shut my mouth and try to go play with the floor planner. Time to try to put my money where my mouth is. lol

CindyMac, I have to retract my favorable comments re: Handmaids Tale as we just finished watching the 2nd season. Without giving anything away, some character's took a bizarre explicable turn which cheapened the story. And it was torture porn without any emotional relief. To lighten up, we are watching THE QUEER EYE on Netflix. Although some of the antics are a bit MUCH, the transformations are enjoyable.

Another spectator here (so far). We have trips that were put off due to covid that we will be rescheduling once we can travel. So, I am not sure I would make a GTG. Would depend on those trips, timing, etc. If I were to come, the Mr. would come with me, although whether or not he would participate or not remains to be seen. LOL We would more than likely plan a trip around the GTG and go on from there. The place, and what there is to do there would really not be of major concern to me (of course I would not want to go somewhere awful!), the main thing would be the GTG! I am within 2 hours of Asheville, we go there fairly often. There is lots to do there and several little towns nearby that are fun. It is a beautiful area. KSWL, I LOVE Montreat. We almost always drive through there when we are in the area. I probably would not be interested in going to Biltmore as I have been there, done that, so many times. I do agree though, it is something to see in every season and they cannot be outdone for Christmas. @DLM2000-GW we love Hendersonville and used to enjoy the antique shops there but seems many have closed. :( You are also within an easy drive of the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg, etc. which is almost my backyard. LOL Charleston you all know I love and we go there usually yearly. There is much to be done and much in the area. People could stay in Charleston or on one of the nearby islands (which we prefer). It's an easy drive back into Charleston. There are other cities nearby (Summerville comes to mind) and for those who wanted to extend their travel time, you could drive down the coast to Savannah. Or you could choose @hhireno's vacation home area (Hilton Head) and be within an easy day trip to Charleston or Savannah. These areas I would definitely do in April/May or October, even November. September will still be pretty warm. You have a little more lee-way with Asheville, it being a mountain area.

I also had tried Schitt's Creek and hated it--I'm old enough that I thought it was a cheesy remake of Green Acres. And Chris Elliott is unwatchable, which actually didn't get any better through the entire run of the show IMO. It wasn't funny, it wasn't clever and the characters were all such jerks. Who could love that show?! But soooooo many people kept saying they did love it that I decided to grit my way through the first season then say enough and quit. By the 5th episode I was laughing. And by the end of the first season I was hooked. I think it also helped that I watched it during the spring 2020 COVID nightmare. To be able to go spend time in that warm, funny, accepting little world was such a balm to my soul. As for other faves, I also am loving Only Murders in the Building mostly for the acting of the 3 leads. I watched The Chair which was entertaining but pretty formulaic. I never miss What we Do in the Shadows. It's like The Office but with vampires...absolutely hilarious. Waiting eagerly for Succession to drop next week!
