Lenore, who is installing the granite slab shower? Start there and make your priority be hiring a VERY experienced tile professional - one you have vetted carefully to insure that their qualifications meet your design requirements and product selections. Stone slab installations are not for the B team, and especially in a wet area. Can it be done? Yes, depending upon the structure over which a solid surface stone is installed and the methods used. We install solid surface shower walls regularly, but from an empty cavity which we build to meet all specific design and installation specifications, including the pan. A solid stone slab cannot be supported by the pan (it is not meant to support a slab wall). A slab wall is pinned and tied so it is self supported, not supported by a pan. This is a very complex installation. A LOT to consider. As one example, the thickness of your slab? 2cm. 3cm? (effects the weight load on the space). And I could go on. After you have carefully vetted the qualified tile contractor, have this conversation with them. We have the krbs pan, but opted for corian rather than the acrylic. It has only been installed a year but so far no issues. I think the adhesives they use will last as long as the material itself. It looks fantastic - not like a shower base at all but like a floor. I don't have any great pics but here is one before the tile was grouted and base was cleaned up: and here is a partial after the shower was done: I bought the corian bench top and niche shelf from them too, it was only like $60 - a fraction of the cost of stone.

Ask a couple local realtors for their opinions. We don't know any details about the house or expectations in your local market. In general, neat and clean is the most important for resale. I would use a preformed shower pan and do a classic, simple shower with basic name brand chrome fittings and limited trim. You don't need high end tile or an expensive frameless shower door unless that is the norm in your market.  Same thing with oversized vanity, double sink, pendant lights, etc. My approach is to have some feature which is nicer than expected in a basic bathroom and then other things boring and bland.

I have no idea about this barnd but I have a acrylic shower base 16 yrs ols still looks like new , cleans up nicely . I do not actually like tiled showers so we have a really nice acrylic shower in our master and an acrylic tub/ shower in the main bath both 16 yrs old look like new . Both from Maax . The tub shower is used daily by students so gets lots of use .
