Cutting back Purple Garden Salvia
Comments (1)If it's flopping so that the center is bare and the blooms are faded/gone you can cut it back as hard as you'd like, it'll start growing again and bloom in 6-8 weeks. Mine do the same thing but I'm probably 2-3 weeks behind you--mine are blooming and standing up nicely right now.......See MoreWANTED: Have: purple salvia

Comments (4)I planted some lyrata seeds under lights 3 months ago.Only 3 plants germinated. They stayed very small for a long time and I tried hardening them outside, but the sun was too much for them and they died.I thought the seeds needed stratification so I was going to wait until late autumn to sow more outside.I just found out you can just sow them with no pre-treatment so I'm going to sow some seeds outside now. They probably won't reach flowering size but should get big enough to survive the winter and flower next spring. So,no I don't think it's too late to plant seeds. That's probably how it propagates itself in the wild, just guessing....See Moreemmarene9
