child’s bedroom help please
Comments (21)If your son sleeps in the crib, remove the bed and put the crib along the wall opposite the doors. If your son sleeps in the bed, remove the crib. If two children share the room, this layout may be the only option but you should downsize to a twin bed and remove the curtain & cord so your LO can't grab it from the crib. For nighttime feedings or bedtime stories, put a chair between the window and the wall bump-out (chimney?) and a small table under the window next to the chair. Attach a reading lamp to the wall above. The world map picture goes on the wall opposite the window. Since it's so colourful, I think any paint colour could work, but I'd opt for a soft shade to let the picture "pop". Maybe green or grey? If the trim and closet door still look as yellow as they do after the walls are painted, I'd repaint those a crisp white as well. White curtains and blind is fine to stick with, as long as it's safe for the LO. To me, the dark blue Toy Story bedding would compete with the dark blue picture. From the decor options shown by J Williams, I like the yellow & grey blanket, zebra rug, and striped laundry basket. Bold graphics but the colours don't overpower....See MoreUpdating master bedroom. Comments (7)Think about your favourite style and search Pinterest. You’ll see all the components that bring a room together, which will help you decorate. You can also drill down further and search by color, bedding, window treatments, rugs, bedside lamps, etc For example, I searched specifically for a modern dark headboard. Area rug would be a nice addition and then base rest of room around it. Bedding is next and paint last. Nice window treatment with longer black rod...See MoreBathroom and bedroom destruction complete! Need ideas :)
Comments (6)Hi Azada and congratulations on the new bath! I love solid surfaces, so congratulations on your Swanstone. My shower is a different brand and is so easy to keep clean, you are going to love it! Also, good for you for going laminate. I did laminate in my kitchen and on the library cabinet and have a walnut top in my bathroom. I cringe every time someone pulls out a stone that they hate and replace it with a different stone or quartz. The whole stone tops movement was justified because “it will last forever!” Well, not if you have to keep up with the latest styles. Discarding stone that took thousands of years to form and was shipped from halfway around the world into a landfill seems criminal to me. So, after I got that lecture off my chest….have you checked out the Formica and Wilsonart web sites? In my experience, the big box stores never have all of the patterns that are offered. You can order samples online, too. At least one of the two companies has a sub group of stone looks that are printed so that there is no repeat of the pattern for the entire 8 or 12 foot length. You can get profile edges, as well. When we were doing the library ten years ago, I was lucky to find a piece of the 8 foot length on Craigslist for half of its list price. I ordered the matching edge from a local supplier and my carpenter made a top that looks like stone. With laminates, you can change out your countertops every few years, if you like, for the price of stone. Back to your project, you have nice, warm colors in your floor. Just looking at the paint samples, I like the top one best. I cannot read the color names, even after enlarging your photo, so I don’t know which is Navaho White. You do need to choose your countertop first, so hold off on the paint a bit. But once you order the counter, be sure to tape the paint samples you are considering up on the Swanstone above the tub so that you can choose something that looks good with the Swanstone, too. But counter comes first. Paint colors are infinite. Counters that go with your floor and Swanstone are not!...See Moreneed ideas for teen girl bedroom
Comments (1)Belle, I don't comment much these days, but I'm sure you'd like a response to this. What, exactly, is your question? A bunch of colours says nothing. It doesn't even make sense to ask people which colour they like best. What colour does your teen like best? Provide a pic or two of the room and of any items you know you/she want/s to use in it. If it's a blank slate, great -- but still let's see the room. Are you up to changing the flooring? Do you have bedding ideas? Curtaining? And so on ... Is that picture your teen girl's dream room? Give Houzz's very talented members something to work with....See MorePorter Edun
