Louvre Shop, Mr. Shutter, Norman Blind Plantation Shutters
Comments (0)ANyone familiar with this company? I am in the market for shutters for a second home we just built in a resort community near the beach. I am pretty set on PS since it will also eliminate my having to have a fabric treatment in the short-term, if at all. I also looked at Norman Shutters which were ok - not happy with the full overlay and how they jut out of the window. I cannot do an inside mount, unfortunately, due to the variation in size of the four windows and because I have tilt-in windows for easy cleaning. They strongly recommended an outside mount for better light control, too. I also looked at Mr. Shutter and a local company who makes the shutters locally. He does not use a mounting strip like Norman shutters, but uses a trim that is attached to the existing frame and then mounts the shutters. The window trim would be partially exposed, but the trim he uses would jut out about an inch, creating a not-so-clean look, since his trim piece would not completely cover the window trim. Interested in hearing which brand shutters you have, inside or outside mount and if if you are happy with the quality. If you could post a picture, that would be great!...See MorePlantation Shutters and Panel Bed?
Comments (11)Keep the window shutters; they're a definite plus for your home. Massive headboards of any kind are unnecessary and over rated. Castors on beds are useful for making a bed, especially if the room is small. If you choose a headboard that will not become the focal point of your room, you have the option to do that with your bedding and/or other décor more easily (and inexpensively) changed as your taste change....See MorePlantation shutters question
Comments (14)Megan, being able to just open the upper slats could be nice depending on your preference and needs. As I mentioned, we don't have mid-rails, and I like it that way for us. For one thing, I always want all the slats opened or closed, so there's really no need for a mid-rail. I also like the simpler look of the panels without a mid-rail. IMO tilt rods provide a more traditional look with no rods looking more contemporary. For the most part, the only time I actually open the panels is to clean the shutters or windows. Those Swifter Dusters are handy for the shutters! Contrary to the comment above, they are very easy to clean....See MoreShow me your open plantation shutters
Comments (11)L A - thank you - that's beautiful!! eld6161 - thank you - I hadn't seen them on a slider before, that's great. I think we're going to leave our slider bare, but good to know that's an option! Ocotillo - thank you - do each of those panels open wide left and right respectively, or do they bifold? It looks like you have the wall space for either, just curious. We're meeting with our vendor later this week for prelim measurements so I'm sure I'll get their professional input, I'm just curious what others did and why. We don't have spectacular views and I don't know if we'll want to completely open them occasionally (we don't ever do it now w/ blinds) but if we do, just wanted to consider the different possibilities. Thanks, all -- appreciate the input and pictures!...See Morechloebud
