We hosted friends from Ohio over the weekend. The husband finished a 50-day cross-country bike trip yesterday at a beach on the NH coast. We had a crowd cheering him on as he arrived. Last evening we hosted them and other friends for a lobster feed. You have to show people from Ohio how to get the meat out of a lobster. :) For dessert, I had this cake made to commemorate this trip. Pleased with the way it came out and he and his wife were both thrilled.

Annie, I love seeing that kitchen and thinking about the history, the families gathered around on cold evenings, rifle over the fireplace. I cannot identify everything in the photo. Those 3-slot toaster thingies, the flat handled panel to the left of the fireplace.

In Annie's photo, I see a bed warmer to the far right. Down front, two "buggy warmers", put hot coals in them, then you put your feet up on them while riding in the buggy.

This kitchen has no running hot water. The cabinets are not fancy, the A frame log can be a head bumper, but I love this kitchen! It's at our summer home on a very remote lake-has absolutely no services, just a beautiful place.
