Maybe I missed previous post but... What are you painting LOL???

Assuming there's no potential for

a "Personality Clash" lurking in the form of non changeable warm elements such as warm colored brick or roof, I always like cool, spanking white for exterior.

It looks fresh and clean.

If your brick or roof or other elements are warm, and you like them, try a chalk white or something similar. *Warm white, or Ivory, sometimes starts looking yellowish and discolored.)

For interiors, it seems to me that cool colors on the walls can sometimes seem chilly.

However, gray is still very popular, and cool Sparkling White looks really good with Greys and Blues.

If you have warm colors on your walls, again, you might try if chalk white, something that is soft rather than "sharp".

Rules? Considerations would be a better work…from where does the natural light come?

Daylight can make or break a color.

For instance: IMO, white dove should never be on a wall facing North. it can look dirty, lifeless, gray, chalky, and pretty awful.

A color for what?? IMO the first thing you need is all the lighting addressed to keep colors true in all the spaces I like LED bulbs in 4000K to do that.
