Should mirror touch back splash? Design help needed
Comments (24)>the mirror will need to not touch the ledge below it. over time, say 5 years or so, water and cleaning agents will seep up behind the mirror and create a black line at the bottom of the mirror. You need enough space to no allow water to wick up behind the mirror. Kind of puzzled by this. I can see that this would be a big issue for mirrors that come to the countertop, but I have 30 year old mirrors that are actually supported by the backsplash, and they're just now starting to go at the corners, which I don't think has much at all to do with that....See MoreHelp me find a backsplash
Comments (2)Hi There - What is the image in the top right corner? Also, what is your budget? Regarding the sink cutout, It would be fine to stop the tile at cabinet height. You have a lot of yellow-y browns in your images. Are the colors pretty accurate? If so, I would try to balance those warm tones out by choosing a crisp, cool beige with more grey than yellow, both for paint and for tile. The tiles below are from Glass Tile Oasis (link below). crema marfil marble mosaic around $17/sf porcelain bricks around $9/ 9" x 11" sheet porcelain mini bricks around $9/sf I like the paint colors featured by Farrow and Ball, but you can have them color matched into any brand of paint. Comments (3)If you have trouble visualizing what you'd like but "know it when you see it", then at this stage you should probably just look at as many stainless / dark cherry kitchens as you can and see which countertops and flooring "grab" you. In my case I knew I wanted simple, natural cherry cabinets and stainless appliances and probably a wood floor, but that was it. Looking at lots of pictures helped me narrow things down, so now I can at least have intelligent conversations with kitchen designers. I'd suggest going over to houzz.com and entering "stainless steel dark cherry kitchen" into their search box and looking through some of the hundreds of results you get. It's a great source of ideas. After you see some you like, you can probably come up with more words to add to the search box to narrow things down. You can also go to google and enter "site:gardenweb.com dark cherry stainless" and you'll find lots of threads on this site too. I don't know of a way to limit it to threads with photos, unfortunately. Laura...See MoreNeed help with back splash and paint color.
