Comments (2)We purchased 1800 SF of unfinished solid maple through Eric at Hurst Hardwoods and couldn't have been happier. The wood is gorgeous and our installer told us that's it's been a long time since he's had so little waste. The price was $2 less PSF than what we could have gotten it for locally. The freight charge was a little over $300, so it was less than what it would have cost us for taxes if we had bought locally. The only problem that we ran into was with the delivery. We have a long, winding driveway and the semi couldn't get to the house to delivery it. We ended up having to pick up the wood from the freight carrier and take it to the house. Can't fault Hurst for our problematic driveway, though!...See MoreHurst Hardwoods
Comments (8)I've been dealing with Hurst for about 9 months. I'm trying to buy Santos Mahogany and I've had quite an education. I've shopped all around and I don't think there's any on line retailer that I haven't shopped with. To make a long story short, last summer I ordered 54 boxes of flooring, after I had gotten a sample(Be sure you do this first) box. But when the order didn't come, when it was supposed to , I called Hurst and found out that the supplier had sold the flooring to someone else and all they had left was 23 boxes, so I had to cancel the order. For some reason Santos Mahogany in 5 " widths is extremely hard to find. I've even called different manufacturers direct. Here comes the education. Flooring comes in 3 grades Clear, Select, Choice (rough grade). But nobody really sells Clear Grade, even if you're willing to pay for it. They now have a category called Premium, which is a mixture of Clear and Select. Even if the box is labeled Clear grade, it isn't. Furthermore, if it's advertised as Clear grade, it isn't, and EVERY manufacturer and retailer does it. It's an industry wide practice. The public is being screwed every day, when you buy an exotic floor. At least Lumber Liquidators calls their product Select, they don't call it Clear, and they are the only one I've found that is honest about what they're selling, although they do call it their top grade.Hurst is no better or worse than any of the others, but they are one of the better ones with which to deal....See MoreWhich flooring would you pick?
Comments (13)I have not used Hurst, so cannot comment on it. I do like beveling. What is the length of the planks. This makes a huge difference in my opinion. I prefer at minimum, 72" lengths....See Morerpwoodard
