Will it look ok to set my faucet off center?
Comments (25)My sink is 28 inches wide and I have the same Trinsic faucet, centered. The water stream hits about three inches in front of my rear center set drain. I often like to swivel the spout back and forth while I am working at the sink. With the faucet centered, the stream of water stays inside the sink. If my faucet were offset at all, the stream of water would hit the countertops if I weren't careful about how far I swung the spout. I have rounded corners on my sink so that makes a difference in clearance ... I'd have more clearance if my sink was square on the corners. The water stream from this faucet is not super powerful and there is no splashing when the water hits in front of the drain or anywhere else....See MoreEntry Lanterns...off-centered or centered w/ off-set front door?
Comments (7)I think that you should only consider sight lines. In your case everyone will be coming in the door and presumably looking dead ahead. you'll get the most bang (since I assume you'll have some fabulous fixture in your entry) if you centre the lights on the door. Also a centred light viewed through the transom windows above a front door is a great warm greeting from the street (if your door is surrounded by glass). I went through the build process recently myself (moved in two months ago) trust me, you can't over think this stuff. There are tiny details all over the place now that I wish I had given more consideration. They don't spoil the experience of my new house, it's not that bad, but they do draw my eye in over and over and over. One of those niggling issues is my dining room light fixture which is centred on the dimensions of the room per plan, but does not account for the fact that the dining room opens to both a hall and my foyer so visual appears much bigger....See MoreCenter drain vs off-center drain for wall mount faucet
Comments (1)i'm not really understanding what you're asking. different brand of sink will also have a center drain. you measure the distance from the wall to the center of the sink or just in front of the drain. that's your spout reach. if you tile the wall, take that in account if you measure. what size sink were you wanting to get (depth-wise)? i used a RH sink/vanity with my wall mount. the spout was about 8" or so. But I also used a 3/4" marble backsplash....See MoreDiningroom front and center when walking into a new home?
Comments (23)Thanks so much for all of the super constructive and smart feedback. The floorplan is already set in stone (house is 80% complete) but it hadn't occurred to me (dug) just to stop thinking of it as a dining room. haha. The two options I see with the most promise are: - As a study/office. I work from home and was planning to use one of the upstairs bedrooms but this could be a really nice alternative. Wall it off, add some glass doors maybe. Built-ins, warm it up with some texture... - As that welcoming foyer. Maybe add a little half-wall transition / break on either side to seperate the space. Imaging built-ins, a low round wooden table, cosy velvet chairs, pendant lighting. Would be less used perhaps but a really cosy place to read, have a glass of wine away from the TV in the living room - would give it a hotel vibe on entry. Still not sure it's the house for us but thinking about it this way really gives me a different set of ideas altogether....See MoreOlychick
