Comments (17)True, you could say that. That is until someone manages to find this thread, then you'll have to explain why you made the earlier statement. At the same time I have to laugh. Notice how when the pressures on now you admit you don't know anything about cars. If that is the case, why are you offering advice on how to deal with them? This situation underscores one of my biggest pet peeves, where real technicians, who care about their careers, and their customers vehicles have to deal with uneducated, and inexperienced people who advise their friends/relatives incorrectly, and try and make it look like its wrong for us to earn a living repairing cars. I wrote the post a month or so ago about my customer who lost his Caravan in an accident. My first thought was I was glad he was OK, the second thought was the responsibility that he and I shared when his airbag system had failed last year. It was his responsibility to have the car repaired, mine was to be trained and equipped to do it correctly for him. It does not get any more serious than that, and I hope georgia can get her car repaired ASAP, you never know whats around the next corner and you definitely don't want to find yourself in the position of saying "I'd pay anything to be able to go back and fix this and then maybe __________ wouldn't have gotten hurt"...See Moreair purifier, blueair 650E/IQ healthpro plus/whirlpool AP51030K
Comments (4)Well, I checked them out a little,..the Blueair gets .003 microns out of the air, the whirlpool .3 microns,..not sure if they mean the same, a micron is meant in thousand, so I would think both are removing the same, 3 mircrons. Both are costly in filter replacement, guess that has to be expected. I think some offer free filters for several years,..please do a little more research. One downside to the Blueair 650E's use of ionization is that it emits ozone, though it meets FDA standards for ozone emissions. It's capable of cleaning rooms up to 698 square feet. Filters for both the IQAir models and the Blueair 650E are expensive, but the Blueair 650E requires filter replacements every six months, adding to the overall cost....See MoreAprilaire Air Purifiers
Comments (14)This is likely referring to static pressure at various fan speeds. But there's more to it than just 'static pressure'. The MERV rating or efficiency of the filter is rated at 1200 CFM. The MERV performance drops at higher fan speeds. (what are you putting the filter in for? ) As the filter gets dirty, this will only decrease (efficiency of) particle removal from air. What's the MERV rating of the Aprilaire 2000 series air cleaners? (from website) It is MERV 13 at 1,200 cfm, which means it will remove 76% of virus size particles 0.3-1 microns, 90% of dust particles 1-3 microns and 90% of pollen and mold spores 3-10 micron. But that really doesn’t tell the whole story. A MERV number is only a reflection of the initial efficiency of the air cleaner and doesn’t tell you a thing about its efficiency over time - how it will perform a month, six months or even a year after installation. A balanced look at whole-house air cleaners looks at initial efficiency, efficiency over time, service life (how long between servicing), service actions (how hard it is to service it), the up-front cost and the maintenance costs. The 2000 Series is designed to have low restriction to airflow and large surface area which allows it to last for an entire year in most applications. The patented Self-Seal media provides a very tight seal to prevent unfiltered air from bypassing the filter. The only maintenance is replacing the media which is quick and easy to do. ------------- The idea behind adding a second filter is to increase performance of the filter and keep static pressure as low as possible. If you're trying to evade cost it's not likely you will have the success you are looking for. With that said, everyone is different in how they suffer from allergies and air borne irritants in the home....See MoreClear air bags to clear the air
Comments (2)I had made my own version a few years ago. I sewed the little sack and stuffed inside crushed charcoal, cedar filling, I used the cedar bedding you can buy for animals. Then sew it shut. Very cheap and easy to make. I would put them in closets, in the car, in dresser drawers etc. You can add scent it you want, a few drops of lavender essential oils for example....See More- 7 years agolast modified: 7 years ago
