If you do install shutters, you should do the whole window. Previous owners in our house installed them, and did the arches as well. I have seen other houses with just the lower parts done and they look off.

What exposure are these doors and windows? If north or east, I would just do lower sections. But if south or west you will need light control and have to do something in the Palladium part of each section. Check that center Palladium. It looks like the seal between the double pain glass has failed. If so, replace it. Looks like beautiful room. Show us more. Are you sure you want Plantation shutters?

I love plantation shutters, have them in every window. You should do the entire window, and have the louvers go straight across, not in a sunburst which can look a little dated. Doing the arches is an “up charge” but you will have them for a very long time. I recommend wood, vs vinyl. Wood does not yellow, vinyl does (even Hunter Douglas over time). Wood can be repaired, or repainted, vinyl cannot.

If I was not doing the top I would have not done the shutters at all. It makes the look.

If you can keep them uncovered, I wouldn't spend the $$$

I see plantation shutters as practical in desert settings...they are more appropriate there...”in the woods” ...not so much....

I only meant that the “sunburst” style to cover the arched portion of the window is a bit dated, not to mention way more $$$. The straight across style of arch, especially with the 4.5” vanes are certainly in style.
Having said all that, semi-sheer, billowy panels hung on a decorative “u-channel” track high and above the arch will operate smoothly and look much lighter than the shutters. You could consider Ripplefold style.

The wall would look better if it were not painted dark IMO.

IMO shutters on gridded windows look bad at the best of times I actually really dislike plantaion shutters I find they block light, views and are always dusty. I would however like to see the whole space
