Help me find a 1950’s style bathroom sink and toilet....
We live in an early 1950’s home and need help finding a bathroom sink and toilet (possibly tub if the original is not under the prefab). Our home feels more late 1940’s then mid century modern.
I love these ones by Waterworks, but I was wondering if anyone knew of cheaper options our there that still looked and felt original to the time period.

Comments (26)I'd say keep it. I am not crazy about the rosebuds but love the rest. I think that when reselling I'd keep in mind that some buyers might like the bath which is in great condition and some might want a credit towards renovation. I wouldn't mess with the rosebuds even though they aren't my favorite because overall it is gorgeous. Pick an accent that you like while you live there...black seems natural to me. I would much prefer it to the remodeled baths from the 70's and 80's in my 50's house. What do you really love? You are living there....so you have to balance both. Comments (159)I will disagree that the seam will be obvious. Not if the pattern is matched properly. Moreover, the curtain will be large enough to have some gentle folds in it so the seam won't be noticeable. The other alternative is to do a double shower rod. The outer one is for the decorative curtain which can be smaller than a regular shower curtain and hangs there to add color and hide the plumbing and the waterproof curtain. The inner rod is for a waterproof curtain (white, clear, whatever) which slides the length of the tub for when in use. Mom did that in her bathroom where the fabric she loved was a remnant and didn't have enough to do the whole shower curtain. By doing so, you aren't limited to shower curtains, but can either make your own panel or buy any drapery panel you want of an appropriate length. In this example, they used the decorative fabric on either side with a pullback, but note the other rod underneath for the waterproof curtain. Here, the panels hang straight. Comments (53)OMG. This is the color of my bathroom as well! And it's been very difficult finding pictures of other bathrooms with the same scheme. (The reverse -- pink with maroon trim -- is easy. But maroon with pink seems much less common.) The towel bars, toothbrush holder, etc. are all pink. The previous owners covered all the tile with white paint and I can't decide whether to strip it off or not. I'd like the room to be original but it's only 5'x7' and I'm worried it will be too dark and oppressive. For a few days I was sure I was going to strip it off, but the stripper I used on a test portion wasn't very effective, so now I don't know if I want to bother. And of course I don't know the condition of the tiles and fixtures under the paint. 4 years agoCheck out Retro Renovations for originals that people want to give a good home. 50’s also did built in vanities, or pedestals in smaller baths.

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoThere are also a lot of wall sinks to which you can add legs. Kohler still makes a few, and so does Am. Standard.
Duravit has a nice small console with backsplash if you are very tight on space, but unlike a 50's shelf sink it lacks anywhere to put stuff down:
And if you have a very large budget, sinklegs.com will make legs for pretty much anything, although a local metal shop would be a lot cheaper, most likely.ETA I recommended ebay in my previous post because I have seen NOS chrome adjustable legs for under $20 there.
