Should I add an edge detail to my modified Shaker door?
Comments (32)Thanks sombreuil_mongrel for your post. I didn't know that having wider bottom rails and narrow stiles was true Shaker. Good to know if we go with 3 inches on both the stiles and rails we will be craftsman style. I do like the look of the beefier frames. We saw that look in one high end kitchen and were very happy that Scherr's could accommodate that request. I checked the Scherr's site again and they offer a 5/32 diameter roundover profile (profile K) which is very close to your 1/8' diameter recommendation. Hopefully, that will offer enough paint chip and stain scuffing protection as mentioned by live_wire_oak. Carol...See MoreShould I add drapes to my bedroom?
Comments (31)I would have some custom work done. I would do floating walnut or teak wood bedside tables below each side window that goes to the edge of each windows casing. Then I would carry that same wood all the way across and up to the bottom casing on the center section to make a "headboard" if you will. This would all be made/installed to look like one piece. Then I would mount simple crisp white drapery panels on the outside of each window to add more texture. Last I would have some rattan lights hardwired to hang above each bedside table. This is a very rough mock up obviously but to give you an idea. Lights would match just showing options. and if you don't want to get into electrical then some more organic feeling lamnops You have great windows in that room and I would show them off. The panels would also go on the windows to the side of the bed....See MoreWhat kind of greenery/plants and accessories should I add to my room?
Comments (2)IMO the wall hanging is not really highlighted on that wall a pice of art with some color would be better there or paint the wall an accent color to make the hanging stand out. Maybe one of the dark colors from the FP. The bottom of the haning 6” from the top of the sofa will be good. I don’t think it is too small....See MoreWhat lighting should I get for my dormer room?
