So sick of being sick!
Comments (11)If you have a really heavy congested chest, you can make a mustard plaster to move everything out - I grew up with this before the time of OTC meds everywhere... Take a hot mustard powder like keens or a dijon mustard, only about a tbsp, mix 2 tbsp of flour with water to make a paste, add the mustard, butter onto a wet cloth and stick it on your chest. Watch your skin carefully, it should not stay on longer than 10 minutes, or remove sooner if you skin is turning red. You will break out in a sweat, cough a lot (it breaks up chest cold gunk). DO NOT go outdoors. Do change any sweaty clothing as needed and stay under blankets or very warm. This actually does shock the body but if your at wits end with a congested chest, this works wonders and is an very old remedy. I had a neighbour do this for her extremely ill asthmatic daughter who she just brought back from emergency. After a bought of coughing she was able to breathe again and get to sleep while her medications from the hospital kicked in. She was coughing so bad I could hear her 2 floors down in my apartment. Comments (7)That is exactly what we did Mom2emall, FDH sent BM a letter explaining her he's going to stick to the court order and any requests for change to be put in writing, with a weeks notice. This made BM pressure the girls even more to ask us to go with BM to 'this party' or 'that event'. BM cannot stand to be told by others how it is, whether it's a court order or not, she'll make up her own mind thanks. When we went back to court, the court counselor decided it was ok for the skids to have a say in where they want to go. She literally said: "Wouldn't it be ideal if the kids can just pick and choose where they want to go?" (???) Her suggestion was accepted by the court and so the court orders were made flexible. This means that basically the kids can pick and choose. So when BM puts pressure on them they will say that it's their choice. This is what makes it so impossible. When we put pressure on to stick to routine it's a tug of war, it's just not right. And the kids will support the disordered parent, that is inevitable. They perceived us to be the ones who were inflexible and 'forced' them to come, it was a very bad situation. This is why we can't do a lot, as much as we would like to go there with court order and cops to put a stop to this nonsense!! So I come here and vent, and wait for May to come around :-)...See MoreHave you ever gotten sick of a veggie?
Comments (22)In my old house I never got more than 2 zucchinis per plant (dense shade, poor soil). So I planted about 18 of them in the garden I made when we moved to our little farm last year. They grew almost into little trees, with big tropical-looking leaves and woody stems more than 2" thick at the base, pumping out more than ten times as much fruit as I'd expected. And I've never really figured out a good way to preserve zucchini, so we just had to eat tons of it. I'm growing only 2 zucchini plants this year....See MoreSad - cooks are sick
Comments (8)Nancy, I love cooking for the family and grandkids too, although I don't have any chefs in the family. Like you, though, I make things that take a long time, things they don't make at home due to the time constraints and things that aren't served at local restaurants, again because of time constraints. It's very nice of you to take leftovers to the chefs, I'm sure they will appreciate it. Maybe not as much as the grandkids, though, who are probably living on ramen noodles or spaghetti-os or something fast and cheap! The dinner sounds delicious, and just the thing for a late winter/early spring kind of meal. Annie...See MoreJoaniepoanie
