Comments (4)10 foot from the house wouldn't be too bad if you keep it from getting too large. As for the retaining wall the roots don't seem to be too much of a problem depending on what type wall. Have you checked with your extension agent or local Master Gardner or even a GOOD Local Nursery? You can take pictures not the plant with you and let them help with your problem. You could in the mean time spray it with milk and water in about 5 parts water, and 1 part milk. This does in some cases kill some molds but not all. But if it is a mold or what ever you need to get it under control as soon as possible....See MoreHeuchera Coral Bells - Root Rot or Crown Rot
Comments (8)thx mar .... got to entertain myself.. so may as well entertain you all .. lol ... actually i am very shy at parties ... anyway .. i cant keep track of every poster.. my first inclination is to shy newbies away from chemicals ... i once read the homeowner is the greatest polluter on earth.. using more chemicals per acre.. than a good farmer will use on 100 acres ... if the plant a few bucks.. why go nuclear ??? on the other hand.. as a guy who used to pay $250 for a hosta ... aka a hardcore collector.. i fully understand that there are many others of us ... that work in realm that includes the nuclear option.. but we tend to PROPERLY ID our nemesis's ... work on a preventive basis .. and use all cures properly and according to labeled instruction ... but i still stand by my statement.. that if it is rot.. odds are low for recovery ... but i didnt know about the evil weevil.. hmmmm .. regardless.. something is happening to the roots that is interfering in water movement to the upper plant ... and you wont know.. until you dig it up ... rot has a significant olfactory aroma .... you will now.. when you smell it ... think diaper .. lol .. ken...See Morehow long before a bare root in water develops root rot
Comments (15)thanks Dingo. its not cold out tonight the low is 52. Today the high was 68. Good idea about trucking around the trees but I already heeled 25 paw paws in the ground, rinsed off 25 dogwoods and paper bagged them with 50 paw paw and 50 arborvitae. I put 25 arobrvitae 25 dogwood and 25 paw paw in a bucket of fresh water. I will plant the ones in water first thing in the morning. Hopefully I can get them all in the ground. I have a couple injuries from the military that have been getting worse the last couple years, or I would've been able to get all these trees in the first day....See MoreRoot rot in jade plant I think--also is this giant thing a root?!
Comments (49)I found an absolutely beautiful Jade in a dumpster when I was tossing my trash. I pulled it out and after trimming a bit it was absolutely fantastic. I proceeded to over water it and practically kill it. It got so bad that I thought it was a goner...and then I did the unthinkable. I cut off the entire matted and ruined root ball. The whole thing. I let it air a few days and stuck it in an awful mixture of street dirt. 6-months later, it is making a huge comeback. I barely water it now and give it a shower every six weeks or so to blow away any mites or whatever crawlies happen on it. It is doing fine. I happened on another specimen with an 8-inch trunk and I broke it up to make about 5 new plants with 4-inch trunks (the 8-inch was rotting). I'm hoping to get at least 3 of those rooted using the same method. Re-rooting a 4-inch trunk gave me some confidence with Jades. They seem to be really resilient if you sorta be a little mean to them ;-)...See Morebtydrvn
