How often do you clean your refrigerator?
Comments (16)The modular shelf design of my FD Jenn Air allows me to shift things around and clean one or two shelves at a time, so I never have to empty the whole thing out; that was apparently my point of resistance. I now clean it every three months, old fridge only got "the treatment" when it was horrid. Casey...See MoreX- Post. How often do you clean your Vent-a-Hood?
Comments (2)We grill under the hood quite a bit so the cleaning is a bit more often, about once a month I'd say. Yeah it's hard to put off the fun sometimes. But a couple of things I've picked up on. 409 works great. Remove the sheild under the blower housing and spray some into the squirrel cage; jog the motor, spray generously, turn off motor. The idea being to coat the wheels but not have the 409 just fly off.Be carefull though because it may drip onto the cooktop. I put some newspaper down first. Let it sit, maybe repeat. Then remove the housing but again be carefull as the 409 is sitting on the bottom now. Wipe it out with paper towels or into the dishwasher if you like. Remove the wheels if gunked up to badly and if your lucky they will clean off real nice with HOT water spray. I don't know why but my wheels used to be a PIA to clean but now they are easy. I use the 409 on the inside of the hood to. The stuff works good for me. Oh, a whole mess of paper towels. It's a bit of a proceedure that may not be for you but with repeated applications seems to go faster. I like my stuff clean, don't like the smell of grease in there, and expect some effort will be needed. Being double jointed seems to mke it all easier under the hood..)...See MoreHow often do you ~clean~ or check your soap SCRUM line
Comments (11)Super Soft - NYC soft water. Whirlpool. A better explanation. On your laundry tub, where the perforated holes are - that is where most of the water sits during a wash cycle. If you start looking past that, where the wall of that inner tub starts to form leading all the way to the edge of it - that is the area where you will get water just strictly by nature of agitation and overspray, but not as much as it doesn't really *sit in water* during a wash cycle, Too many variables, as different makes have different tub designs, etc. For me, that is the scum ring - but it's also due to how my wash cycles are.. I do suspect that while most people are looking at their gasket, how many of ya'll go to great lenghts to check out the cavity I'm referring to.... I'm a OCD clean freak deep down. I have a commercial grade steam cleaner that not only produces steam but allows me to shoot boiling water through the nozzle - I will put the nozzle in that tight cavity and steam clean/send high pressure boiling water through that cavity (after seeing how this a problem prone area) around the entire perimeter of that area. While this cleans the area , nothing beats a sanitize cycle with the overloaded water dosage to really clean it....See MoreHow Often Do You Have Your Cat's Teeth Cleaned?
Comments (5)Cats don't really get cavities. They do undergo a weird process where they resorb their teeth for some reason (it's not known why). This can expose the root and allow a direct access to the bloodstream for bacteria to enter and cause septicemia, leading to serious organ damage or even death. Every cat (and dog) is different in their dental needs. Some almost never need dental prophies, others need them a lot. I know a pair of bichon frises who get dental prophies every 6 months, and they really need it! OTOH my mom's dog never had a prophy in 14 years, and her teeth were in great shape. So it really depends on the individual. I would at least say that all dogs and cats need to have an oral exam every year, and a prophy recommendation made on the results of the exam. I would ask specifically what is involved in cleaning your cat's teeth. Some places do a crappy job IMHO in order to keep costs down. They should have the cat intubated and fully anesthetized (not just sedated), they should use an an ultrasonic scaler and polisher on both sides of all teeth and up under the gumline (some places just crack off the obvious tartar and don't polish, which makes it easier for bacteria and tartar to come back), they should probe all the teeth for pockets around the gums. I'm a little concerned that they even offered to just extract the bad tooth without doing a full dental prophy. Unless of course he had just had a prophy and then fractured a tooth or something. You can miss early signs of disease by not doing the full prophy....See MoreBunny
