Even if you know the name of the door manufacturer there is no guarantee that they could identify the molding on your door because there are dozens of different shapes of that molding and often a manufacturer may change material in mid production run. The best bet is to remove one section of the molding and take it to the store to have them match what you have. If they cannot match the original material they can usually provide a suitable replacement. The key here is to get enough to remove all the original and replace it with the new material to get a good match. The likelihood of finding the molding in a home supply store or a hardware store is slim to none. Take your sample to a commercial glass & mirror supplier and ask them to match it for you. In most cases they can match it, but if not they will be able to offer a suitable substitute. In addition, generally they will take the time to walk you through the shop area and have one of their glazing experts demonstrate how to cut and install it. Typically the moldings comes in a 6' strip so getting enough to replace the whole frame is not a problem.

You may have trouble contacting the manufacturer. If they are Stanley doors, odds are they weren't made by Stanley (the tool & tape measure co) as we know it. As an example - Stanley Windows are not and never were made by Stanley Tools. The name was bought by some sort of licensing agreement by Silverline and used as a marketing gimmick because of the familiarity of the name. Unless you know where the doors came thru (lumberyard etc) it could be tough to know who assembled the doors. We are a distributor and our doors are made by a small outfit using the Masonite program. Really "all" they do is bring in the door blanks and hang them into various jamb depth frames and cut/insert different glass lites etc. As you can imagine they don't "make" those plastic IG frames you are looking for, and neither does the company that hung your doors - but they bring them in by the truckload. I have had occassion to use them as replacements in the past but can't for the life of me remember what they cost. Are yours the type where there is an identical piece on the other side of the door with visible screw holes (or capped holes)going around the perimeter? Is there grid pattern, like a 9lite, or just glass? What is the outside width and height dimension of the part? I'd be happy to see if it's an exact match, it probably is. I can't imagine they cost too much to ship, they don't weigh much. Ed

The strength of steel allows for the structural integrity required in a window using very narrow structural members. Using wood components would require additional dimensional sizing of the structural components. That steel window style shown in the photo is very aesthetically pleasing. If you are concerned about energy efficiency gains with the older window shown, there is one nice alternative to buying new windows. Many traditional homes in colder climates utilized interior hinged, wooden storm windows for these steel casements and transoms. These storm windows were easy to remove and store during warmer weather. The wooden storm windows kept frost away from the interior room side and also added another layer of protection against air infiltration. Additionally, screens were often of the roll-up or retractible style, with a housing located in the head jamb of the windows. Coincidentally, this is where Pella Roll Screen, or simply Pella, made its way into the window manufacturing business. My recollection is that Pella originally only built screens back in the early 1920's before venturing further into supplying the actual windows.

You have a solid steel door? I don't think so, unless you live in a Bank. You cannot just stick a double hung window in a door. If you are having issues with the glass, I would suggest carefully measuring it and then contacting a door manufacturer and asking if they can supply you with a replacement. It would be really helpful if you knew which company made the door. Or you could just replace the door. Might be cheaper to do that.
