Comments (9)have you tried West Elm? I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but i found some nice mirror on-line there today. They weren't too pricey. one thing i didn't consider until the other day. We are building a house and our cabinet maker is making the vanities. We were searching for mirrors and he suggested why doesn't he just make a framed mirror to match the vanity for us? Just an idea... If you go on the lighting website, (csn, lighting universe, etc.) I have seen mirrors on their sites or their sister sites.. Good luck!...See MoreMirror shape for MB- your thoughts?
Comments (33)Errant - Thank you so much for the mock ups. Although the rectangular mirrors are lovely, I am drawn to the ovals. I'll post a pic when everything is finished. Thanks for your opinions everyone!...See MoreMirror over sofa
Comments (106)Threegrad - There have already been a bunch of aftershocks, all at about 2.0, which aren't felt. The Monterey Peninsula is basically a high hill of granite, so we don't feel much below a 4.5 anyway. And no reports of injuries anywhere. This was an odd one, like a double shaker. A big thump, then a few seconds of nothing, then everything rattled and rolled. Not long enough to get frightened though. Learned my lesson about what to hang where during the 1989 Loma Prieta 7.1 shaker. Nothing that is breakable, heavy, or not glued down goes over five feet high in my house, except for pictures and am very cautious about placing mirrors. And our water heater is double-strapped to a concrete wall in our tiny basement. And, of course, no one builds with bricks. AFAIK it's against code....See MoreHelp! Comments (5)The important distance to consider is the distance between the center of the vanity to the center of one sink. That distance never changes regardless of the size of the mirror. The wider the mirror, the less distance you have between the sconce and the mirror. If my calculation is right based on the measurements you gave, that distance is 21" (please confirm it as I don't explicitly see it on the measurements you gave us). The distance between the edge of the sconce and the edge of the 24" mirror is 6.25". This number came from that calculation: 21" -2.75" (half the width of the sconce) - 12 (half the width of a 24" wide mirror) = 6.25". Now if you use a 36" mirror, the distance between the edge of the sconce to the edge of the mirror would be .25" ( 21" - 2.75 - 18"). You don't want a quarter in. wall between the sconce and the mirror. If you were to find a 28" wide mirror, that distance would be 4.25" ( 21" - 2.75 - 14"). I think the width of the sconce is more in proportion with a 24" mirror. I also think a 24" mirror looks nicer with a 27.5 wide cabinet below it....See Moreartemis_ma
