Another gardening day today!
Comments (5)Today was a gorgeous day! I kept thinking how odd it was that it was so beautiful and tomorrow we will supposedly have over a foot of snow! Unfortunately, I had to work, so I only had about a half hour to go around and make sure things were battened down for the storm tomorrow. I took a walk around the yard and kept thinking how nice it would have been to clean up some old foliage and to put down some shredded leaves, and I stood and stared for awhile trying to decide whether I was looking at mole/vole holes, deer/animal prints, or frost-heave. I finally decided I didn't know, couldn't do anything about it today, sighed, and went inside, bringing a rock-solid frozen bag of potting mix in with me to thaw. I'm hoping to do some winter-sowing tomorrow, after shoveling. I'm glad someone was out enjoying this nice day today. Hoping there are more to come... soon! :) Dee...See MoreAnother hot day for us but relief is coming
Comments (8)Your perennials look great! I like your chocolate eyed rudbeckia much better than Prairie Sunrise. I never grew Prairie Sunrise. But I've had it growing in my garden over the years from a mix of Indian Summer and the chocolate eyed one. It looks like you are mostly going to have taller scapes. Lucky you! I must be in a dark eyed mood this mornng because Intelligent Design and Black Eye Bully are my favorites. Debra...See MoreAnother humid hot day on Wednesday
Comments (11)We must be sharing the weather pattern . It is dreadful here . Almost 100 percent humidity( to the point it is hard to breathe) and sunny and hot . Yesterday was with humidex 35 celcius ( 95 farenheit ) . I hate living here . I was not born to this and in 30 years have not adapted to it either . Still trying to weed but now it is getting very difficult as it is so easy to break off scapes now . I never thought I would say that I don't want any more rain because we are usually way too dry but that is exactly what I am saying . Being the only one working the gardens I haven't even gotten to my seedling beds to weed . I still have 4 big beds to weed and then on to the seedling beds . UGH ! First it was too wet and cold and now too wet and hot . Is there no happy medium ? I am at sixes and sevens as to whether I like toothy dayliles . Saying that of course there are always exceptions . I do like your Bride of Dracula and Feeling Thorny . I have a few toothy ones but they are not my fav's ....... maybe they will eventually grow on me . I do really love your Tears of a Clown and especially your seedling Snidely Whiplash x First Addiction ....See MoreA hot July 6. Some leftover from the past few days.
Comments (10)Your NOID, Scarlet Pimpernel and Smoky Mt Autumn are my favorite. Nice seedlings. I especially like the one called Seedling 1 - so pretty! I know what you mean about not being satisfied with colors. The phone I was using last year although convenient got most of them wrong and intensified almost invisible veins and all those sort of things, I can not recognize my flowers when I look at pics ))...See MoreBrad KY 6b
