Should sheer curtain length match drapes?
Comments (13)I didn't want a pair of sheers because of the ability to accidentally leave an opening. My goal is to let light in, while being able to change without closing the curtains. In our last house, we had wooden blinds (regular size) and honeycomb blinds. A couple of those were cordless and they stopped working after a while, so I'm not keen on cordless. I don't mind the continuous loop versions. I'm intrigued by the idea of blackout fabric roman shades with sheer solar panels underneath, but that's not in the budget right now. (We're in the middle of a major kitchen remodel!) My husband is OK with getting more sheers for the room now, and changing it up later on when we decide what to do. There is no room in the current windows to attach any type of hardware. Not even tension rods. Anything would have to be mounted outside, but we don't want to poke more holes right now. Windows will be new construction windows, so the whole thing will be replaced....See MoreDouble curtain rods
Comments (1)Hang them up as is and take a photo of the rods. Do the sheers stick out on top?...See MoreDIY double curtain rod with existing traverse rod??
Comments (4)Why not do the sheers with grommets then opening and closing is very easy. Actually IMO solar shades woulf solve the whole issue use them all day to control heat and light and let you keep the view and give you daytime privacy the the heavy drapes can go on the traverse rod and done ....See MoreWidth and length of drapes?
Comments (15)Sorry everyone! I might be using the wrong terminology here. i thought this was considered puddling (see picture.) I also read if you had low ceilings its better to have the rod as close to the ceiling as possible and to have the rod extend 12 inches on each side from the window! I’ve attached some pictures of my room under the picture of how long I was thinking the drapes should be. Please ignore the god awful furniture and flooring. That’s all being changed. I also just assumed to do sheers and blackouts because during the day I figured there would be too much light if I just opened the blackouts and had no sheer covering at all.. and I thought if I just had light filtering curtains and had my bedroom lights on at night that neighbors would be able to see in. I’m COMPLETELY open to suggestions though and it would be cheaper to just do one curtain instead of layering them so thats even better 😂 Sorry guys I’m so new to all of this its my first time designing a home.. I’m 25 and finally moved out lol!...See More4Heidesign
