help...big contractor screw up! Need advice...
Comments (10)You could look far back for my posts :) But you'd see that when this happened to me I made them rip it out and pay for someone else to do it. It depends on how big the error was. Tile in the wrong place or just a total botch job install. in the first situation I'd let them redo it. In the second (which was mine) I wasn't going to do it twice with the same idiot. I made them pay for a real installer to fix the problem and redo it as well as buy the tile. And why did I make them pay someone else...cuz once a long time ago I was a nice guy and let an idiot installer do a job over when they did it wrong the first time...and the second...and the third and the FOURTH! I haven't been nice since....See MoreNeed Help/ Techniques to Fire Our Contractor
Comments (142)If it makes you feel better, Hoboken, my main early labor symptom for my last kid (#3) was extreme crankiness. When we got to the hospital, I told my husband that I'd changed my mind, we weren't really having this baby after all. We looked at each other and said, "But we don't have a name for a girl!" This was the days before ultrasounds and I was sure this baby was a girl. He wasn't, so we had a name after all. It could have been like my brother and SIL - it took them several more days after the birth of their kids to agree on names. That really causes issues on the birth certificate front. Good luck, keep breathing, she'll be here soon....See MoreSinking Dreams - Redoing my 1930's Kitchen
Comments (41)I've never seen a DW under the sink. Where do the pipes go? I really like the idea of putting it to the left though, it would be less noticeable there. I wouldn't get a panel (not with my lower-end cabs) anyway. My DH said, "Why do you want to hide the fact that we own a dishwasher, is it embarrassing?" One of those things, where, If you don't get it, you don't get it! I am unsure about the vintage sink. I've been looking for one for ages but they all need reglazing. The salvage store sells them reglazed, but I've heard it doesn't hold up. Also, I measured, like Francy suggested, and realized that if all three walls are "fitted" the sink area will be less than 55" and I like counterspace next to the sink. I am not opposed to the undermount sinks (That have no lip?, am I using the right term?) I think they may make clean-up easier? I have seen some pics on here: wilsonb, klb 2000, and vjrnts - they have great vintage-style kitchens with undermounts and soapstone counters. I'll have many questions to ask about maintenance - I probably should start another thread for that. I want to thank all of you for giving me so much attention - I'm not used to it :) Most people I know have new houses. Even those I know in my part of town (the historic part) have brand-new kitchens. Dh is only interested in cost and maintainability. It's great to find people who speak your language!...See MoreSink installation correctly installed?
Comments (23)Yes, he was in charge of getting material and installing (as per contract), all we did was choose the counter and sink. He won't fix it now though. So we are trying to work with the manufacturer. Manufacturer is trying to find a new sink to fit the two holes...so far unsuccessfully. I am convinced in his head we are the unreasonable ones. I appreciate all the feedback, it's truly helpful....See Moreyalemichmom
