What's rebloomed well for you this season?
Comments (27)Rita - One full zone certianly does make a difference! Seems like we are almost exacly one month appart on bloom times, and probably 15 degrees different in temps. We really only get down to about 20 in the winter and up to 115 in the summer (whew), with 105 being a sustained temp for weeks at a time. ACK! VELVET EYES had done super well here. Strong grower, multiplier and bloomer. That said, the branching and budcount could use work. I went out just now to count (because there are 11 scapes still on the small clump - and I already pulled off at least 4 others) and I found the highest # of bud scars was 21 and the lowest was 9. Most of them had 14 buds. Not great, but sure are lots of scapes. Only top branched for me too... Debra - I was REALLY surprised when JENNY BUTTERFIELD bloomed so many times. I don't remember reading about anyone having rebloom on it... much less, double rebloom (if that's what it's called). CHINESE WATERCOLOR also surprised me - the first scapes were still blooming the last blooms when I started to see new baby scapes popping up. PALACE GARDEN BEAUTY - well, this plant is a wierd one. I have two clumps of it growing in the same bed - BUT, one clump rebloomed and the other did not. The one in full sun is the one that didn't rebloom! The other one is one of the plants being taken over by my knock-out roses. I have been keeping them trimmed off the daylilies, but poor PGB gets a lot of shade. I was surprised when the shaded one was the one that rebloomed. Maybe you need to trade its place with JENNY BUTTERFIELD! :o) I have not given up hope of more rebloom when things cool off here. Texas has wierd growing seasons - we get two. One in spring and one in fall. Once things cool off a bit, I usually see more scapes popping up....See MoreExtra Long Season Coming to an End
Comments (11)Red Edition is beauty, Debra. I have one daylily that has not bloomed yet, but should have its first bloom open either tomorrow or Tuesday. I've had some rebloom, Rocket Blast and Ancient of Days are still blooming, but, for some reason Dragonfly Charmer didn't bloom this year, then suddenly, in late August, put up a scape, so it should be opening blooms for most of September this has been a strange season. kay...See MoreBlooming at the end of the season
Comments (5)What a great looking cat Henry is with his little puffed out cheeks. Obviously a great help in the garden. I don't remember seeing him before. Need to start a meet and greet post for everyones furry companions......I like your seedlings even if they are on the short side. The color is pretty and the ruffles add to their beauty.....Always enjoy seeing the "moss rose" in bloom. Some of my Portulaca is wearing thin about now though. It's been blooming forever it seems. I've cut it back a couple of times already. Some of it has re-seeded in the daylily pots giving me a two for one bloom bonus............Maryl...See MoreBest Rebloomers of the Season
Comments (21)I had to chuckle Mantis at your comment "can water". It's been in the triple digits here up until today (92) and there is no "can" to it. I MUST water every day just to keep them alive. My Linda Sierra did alright for a first year plant, but no rebloom here..........Debra: Thanks about Dixie Sunrise. It is turning out to be a nice Stamile pink. I can't remember if Pink Aloha rebloomed or not. It never blooms in flushes for me, but this year it had a bloom or two almost every day for at least a couple months and you know how beautiful I find those blooms..........Maryl...See Morelilykate7a
