Depth of countertop over washer & dryer?
Comments (2)Another poster had an issue where her washer had a top loading detergent tray (it slid out a little so you could put the detergent, bleach, and fabric softener in the 3 little cups in the tray). That wasn't accounted for in her cabinet and it created a problem when she actually wanted to USE the machine. Personally, I would skip the counter on top and go for the pedestal base. Washers and dryers are bulky, if I need to put on a new hose for the washer or want to thoroughly clean the hose from the dryer, I need to get back there. Having a counter on top makes that harder, and when I fold laundry I watch TV (watching laundry isn't as much fun). I think that laundry rooms look nicer with a counter on shorter units, but when it comes to function it's harder. My laundry is in the basement, though, so I can go with function instead of form. But in any case, the depth of a counter needs to take into account your washer and dryer access points....See MoreWasher/Dryers under kitchen counters
Comments (11)I don't think so. DW uses much hotter water than washer. Even when I used my WD combo( the ventless one), there was no moisture to be felt around. The unit felt warm (enough to dry towel over it) on drying cycle but my dishwasher puts out more heat- it is old piece of wonder, fixed manytimes. Besides look at the build in ovens, even thou they vent up front, I'm sure there must be some heat in between cabinets. I wouldn't worry as long there is no water drip when draining. In europe we use appliances build in the kitchen for years....See MoreHelp! Not sure if I want dark granite counter tops

Comments (20)The issue with the Asko washer is the controller board. My machine never worked on certain cycles. They replaced it and the replacement machine didn't work on the same cycles. After 8 years of use in a weekend house the controller board broke and could not be replaced. Apart from that I liked the washer. I didn't care for the Asko dryer at all. It was vented. Everything came out constantly wrinkled. The Bosch non-vented dryer had a larger capacity and put the Asko to shame performance wise. One poster here, suburbanmd, bought one of the deluxe Asko sets and returned it due to function issues. Here is a link to the thread which details the problems. You can take/leave free advice, of course. I'm not going to use your machine so for me, it makes no difference which one you decide to buy. Folks make their decisions based on many factors. However, I do have experience as an owner of 3 of the 4 compact major sets. I wouldn't go go Asko again and don't recommend it. Miele is a far better washer & dryer. The Bosch washer doesn't have the true hot washes but the capacity is good and the condenser dryer is excellent. I have no experience with Electrolux compact machines so I cannot comment on those. However, that machine has a heater. And there are posters here who own the machines and like them. IOW other better choices....See Morelasummers24
