Sink Pendant and Island Pendants - Same Size?
Comments (5)These are entirely closed lights so there won't be light escaping anywhere but at bottom. How much wattage do the lights offer? I think you will need at least 75 Watt (incandescent) over sink and also in vicinity of range. The sink and range are offset, right? Will they look okay from a distance or do you need the sink one to be less distinctive? If not, I'd choose the larger one for the sink ... or an entirely different one that stands out against the blinds, perhaps in shiny metal or something in stainless or a warm brown that coordinates with that next room's decor. If you were to make the choice to use something different at sink, I'd use 3 matching ones over island. We have 3 matching pendants in one area--but we put in a sep switch for the two on outside and a separate one for the singleton at sink. Not sure if this is wise or not, but it does give me more flexibility because I can dim them up or down; I use the doubles more than the single or the full set because that's over two work areas, one is for baking and one is over dishwasher. Proviso: I reserve the right to find a new oddball light for the sink. Besides these triplets we have 2 more on peninsula so we have a total of 5 same-size smaller pendants in all so losing one at center won't bother me. O.T. Like the blinds! My favorite part of the room! If you made them I'm especially impressed. Snotty comment here: hope you enjoy dusting. That black would be always dusty in my kitchen. But...it's very distinctive and it gives you some dark notes against the whites....See MoreSize of Pendant to Scale of Island - Is this pendant too big?

I've been hearing that when in doubt, err on the side of larger when it comes to lights - not sure why. I like the Pullman pendants by Wilmette that nanjeanne has, partly because the prismatic shade covers the light bulb but still looks to let a lot of light through. bean...See MoreLinear Lighting Sizing for Over-Sized Kitchen Island Suggestions
Comments (18)You need pendants with chain. and EXTRA chain and wire. Or the fixture must come with a pivot and the ability for additional stem or customization on the light order.. . It would help to know the highest ceiling elevation. A 126 inch island is not HUGE. You need nothing close to an 82 inch single fixture. It will take OVER : ) Three pendants, forcing light down onto the counter would be just fine. No wider than 15 inches if three and no more than 18 to 20 if two. . You can augment with recessed as well....See MorePendants over island
Comments (15)Hi. Holly. You see preventing lighting from getting too much is really simple. Your kitchen and dinning seems to be an open plan type. First know how much brightness is recommended for a kitchen. I did the research and wrote a full article at lightingglow .com it is around 150 - 200 lumens per square meter which means 18 lumens per square feet. Simply measure to the total square feet area of your dinning and kitchen and multiply it with 18 you will get the recommended brightness for kitchen area. after you have your lumens calculated see much lumens a individual pendant is emitting. it is printed on the description of bulb. Add all the lumens and match it with recommended brightness. If you further need help you can always check the detailed answer on lightingglow. Thanks....See More- 4 years ago
