Comments (31)Before lizzard had even suggested the LL Bean pants, I had ordered them! And happy to report that they are fantastic. I actually had to order a size smaller because they were too big (love when that happens!). I also ordered a chino skirt from LLB that I'm very happy with. Finally, in my Zappos shipment, I received a skirt and casual dress from Horny Toad that I loooove. Both are in a jersey fabric that somehow does not cling to my less-favorable parts. And both are in a charcoal gray color that is nice, a little different from the usual black. For me, this process works better than the mall. I had free shipping from LLB, and I can return my rejects to the store about 15 minutes from here. Zappos is free shipping and returns. Still waiting for the cropped chinos I ordered from Garnet Hill... (Yes, I went on a bit of a spree!)...See MoreExplain this to me....
Comments (17)Thanks to all of you for the nice words! I've actually been trying to lose this weight for the last 14 yrs. I was thin before my DD came along and then all hell broke lose! Anyway, I still want to rid myself of another 35 pounds. I have no idea what I weigh now as I don't have or want a scale. I used to obssess over my weight and I wasn't healthy about my nutrition and worked out a bit too much. Now, I just want to be healthy without obsessing too much about it. I'm eating maybe 800-1000 cal. a day and trying to walk as much as my bad back allows me to. It's not a lot of calories but I honestly don't get hungry much anymore. When I find myself in a plateua, I increase my intake of cal. for a couple of days and then cut back hard again. Seems to work. I eat a pretty balanced diet now. I have cut out my arch enemy: BREAD! I swear it's all I need to live! I do miss it. I was just really miffed about certain clothes fitting the same. I have never had that problem before when I've lost weight. Yes, some things hang or are very loose and look ugly now but it boggles me that so many still fit the same. It's not like they're new clothes and the size is the same... then I would understand the 'sizing' thing but these are my same old clothes. Urg! Thank God people have noticed the loss or I'd be wondering if it's all been in my head!...See MoreFavorite travel clothes?
Comments (25)You can be turned away at the basilica for inappropriate clothing. The Vatican museum you can get away with more, but not St Peter's or the Sistine Chapel. The rules are women must have their arms and knees covered, so a skirt or pants. The tops of your arms/shoulders must be covered, a scarf or jacket would suffice if you're wearing something inappropriate. Males are expected to wear long pants and a top with short or long sleeves. No t-shirts with offensive writing. No hats. No cleavage. When we traveled Europe for three weeks it was in June. I wore long (cool cotton, summer) skirts in the hotter climates to all churches out of respect. Pants in cooler climates. From the Vatican...See MoreComfortable Travel pants with closing pockets for women? Stores ?
Comments (3)Thanks. I just got back from the trip. After ordering and returning several pairs of women's pants, where the pockets were too shallow for practicality, or the rise was too low, or the fabric contained spandex (too hot for the desert where I was going), I was out of time. Following a suggestion on another forum, what I ended up buying in-store was men's rip-stop 100% cotton pants. They had both deep front pockets and cargo pockets. I had to buy them large enough to accommodate a woman's derriere (not large by any means, but larger than a man's), then take them in at the waistband. I can sew and tailor, but even for someone with few skills in this area, it was very easy to do. (I mention this in case someone else needs to take the same route.) I HAD bought 1 pair of women's pants from L. L. Bean that fit (at 3 x the price of the men's pants I bought locally), but only wore them once. They have spandex and were much too hot....See Morelittlebug zone 5 Missouri
