Indoor Hanging Plant Suggestions Please?
Comments (5)Just about the only plants that can handle direct light are the cacti and other succulents. In fact, they love it. My suggestions are: 1) Rather than using hanging plants us a tall plant stand and stock it with cacti and other suculents. That can look very impressive, but be careful, they are addictive. Plus you don't need to worry about them when you go away! 2) Get a sheer curtain, then any of the "bright indirect light" plants with thrive there. Prayer plants and your spider plant will do very well. 3) Move the hanger hooks back a few feet 4) Try some big holiday cacti (christmas/thanksgiving/easter cactus) in your hangers, they can take a lot of sun and look great hanging Good luck...See MoreHelp with plant suggestions please
Comments (7)I wouldn't rule out an extra hardy perennial such as a daylily if you have a free source and are willing to experiment. Then you could fill around with annuals every year. I think plants that are typically sold in the 4 or 6 packs offer the best bang for the buck to fill a large space. Off the top of my head: marigolds, dusty miller, verbena, salvias, wax begonias. I do border plantings around most of my beds every year with 4 pack plants and it is fun to try different combinations every year to create an interesting border....See MorePlant suggestions please?
Comments (3)I presume you mean a tropical-looking plant but one that will stand some frost? The cabbage palm (Cordyline) and Trachycarpus fortunei (Chinese palm) are both hardy as is Japanese banana and Musa sikkimensis, another banana, though less so than the palms I mentioned. Aralia has large glossy leaves that look very tropical. Yucca is also pretty tough. If you are willing to give your plant some frost-protection your options are greater. - Ian....See MoreTerrace in London--plant suggestions please
Comments (0)My husband and I have just moved to London and have a terrace on the 6th floor facing West and North. We've only been there a short while, but I have noticed that on a couple of occasions we receive a very brisk wind. The terrace is only 5 feet wide but it wraps around the flat on both sides so is very long. We brought two small tables each with two chairs for seating. Any suggestions for plants that would withstand these conditions? I would like to use some tall plants/small trees in the corners and we have a railing that is about 10 feet or so where we could do windowboxes in the Spring. Another point is that there will be periods of time of perhaps two weeks when the plants will be unattended so I'd like easy care ideas. Thanks so much!...See MoreNHBabs z4b-5a NH
