After this rich feedback on my contribution, which has really forced tears in my eyes I like to proceed by a confirmating message of the observation of my one bulb of this cultivar which I forced for the 2nd time (the previous images where derived from 2 bulbs 2 y old in one pot I gave away to a friend who forced the bulbs following exactly my [i]husbandry[/i] recommendations. O.K. one 27 cm bulb here; reposed at 8-17 grd, repotted in coco soil, watered carefully from the bottom and forced at the same soil temperature range for 3 weeks now. 3 flower stalks and yes - 10 leaves are emerging. Baby Star is a not so space consuming hybrid and a source of concentrated beauty, even in this state now. The only disadvantage I can discover is that the color saturation of the flowers is strongly dependent on the light conditions. The rich pigmentation of leaves, stems and bracteous flower covering leaves here is due to direct sunlight only filtered by the thin poyethylene foil "roof" which prevents rain water getting access to the plant and particularly to the soil surface *ggg* Hans-Werner

You should post on the Rate & Review Member page. Good feedback is not a guarantee of a good trader because I've had bad trades with people that have had good feedback but it gives others something to go by. I'm sorry to hear that you got the short end. I'll still trade with new (to me) people but I try and stick to trades (especially big ones)with people I exchange with often. There's probably nothing wrong with what you sent. I had a trader that emailed me that the plants he received were in good shape upon arrival. His end would be sent in a couple weeks when temps improved. I waited a month and still no plants. I thought they might have forgotten so I sent an email. All of a sudden he says that most of the plants I sent were dead. Well if that was the case it was his fault and I reminded him that he said they looked great. I finally sent him an email saying that I realize that he never had any intention of mailing his end of the trade and that I hope he was proud of himself for ripping me off. You might just have to do what I did and write it off as a lesson learned. It sucks but at least most of the people here are honest and trustworthy. Karyn

Well, it's been a while, folks, so here's an update. Ken's 1000% recommendation of Whirlaway as "the best mini/miniflora" regardless of color sold me on getting it; that and the fact Ken's in the Gulf Coast climate too, or close to it. Whirlaway actually arrived for me last week. No blooms yet, but Ken, I expect good things! I have to apologize for my comments on Peter Cottontail. The first misshapen yellow bloom turned out to be just one of those early "practice" blooms. It took a little time to establish, but by this mid-autumn it's produced some wonderful big, ivory-yellow blooms, perfect hybrid tea shape and floribunda size. Not very many blooms yet, but they have each lasted one-and-a-half to two weeks on the bush. Pretty darn good. I wouldn't call this rose white, though. To me its more yellow and less white than, say, Fairhope, which is classed as a yellow. Moroseaz, Linville is definitely a keeper for me. I've had one for 4 years now. I actually have a second one that's about a year and a half old. But Linville has not been pure white for me. That's probably your 100+ temps that give you white. Mine is antique white with a wonderful soft eggshell-pink blush to the centers, very reminiscent of how French Lace looks in cool climates (which is dissapointing for me in my climate). In winter, Linville's blooms get bigger, close to 2 inches across, open more slowly and are the softest icy pink rather than white. By the way, how's your Memphis Magic doing in Arizona? Mine is also nearing the end of its first year and has not produced a lot of blooms but HAS slowly but consistently produced gorgeous and long-lasting nearly black roses. One of my favorites already, just from its sheer beauty.

I have never been in a TJ's that had several rows of frozen foods, and we have a few that aren't far from us. I don't think it's a big deal to access the crackers and cookies over the frozen foods. Unfortunately, I am able to easily grab the boxes of Jo-Jo's. ;) The parking lots are always small and awkward! I thought it was just around us because the stores are in urban locations, but I guess not? I think maybe we oversold the whole TJ's experience and you were disappointed, Oakley! I like it for certain things, but to me it's not the greatest store ever. I doubt that I'd go too far out of my way to shop there. Forgot to mention earlier that my kids used to love Nutrigrain bars, and TJ's has their own brand that are basically the same and so much cheaper. That's one of the items I've stocked up on there.
