removing stair half wall

B

I am removing a stairway half wall and replacing it with an open bannister with metal spindles (similar to last photo). In addition, I will be extending the stair treads to be the full length of the stair, plus extend slightly beyond the wall (also similar to last photo).

My question is what do I have to do to support the new treads. Do I need to cut and install a new stair stringer a in line with where the wall was to provide proper full support to each tread on the edge, or is there an easier method which is acceptable given the additional length of the stair is only approx 6” beyond the existing stringer which butts up to the inside edge of the half wall.

For clarity, I plan to leave the wall below the steps (picture #2). I’ll only remove the half “railing” wall. That wall will follow the shape / cutout of the steps (as in the last picture).

Thanks
