Best way to make a built in buffet look 'built in'
Comments (10)O.K. I don't really think it looks built-in unless the cabinets go completely wall to wall, so the 1'-5" wall would need to be full depth to the cabinets or deeper. But does that really matter ? If you want to get rid of the 1'-5" wall anyway, it won't look built in. Also a under counter frig will be 24' d. so that won't fit in a 16" deep cabinet. What if you shortened it & didn't have it against either wall & make it look more like a piece of furniture ? I like your plan by the way.... Comments (2)Am a BS enthusiast. Am delighted to have cast iron top and find it far easier to keep it looking nice. Mine has the old fashioned pull out drip catcher tray... And I don't mind that. So much if the clean up I was doing before shine surfaces becomes unnecessary...and the grates become cured, soft sheen, just like a well cared for Lodge fry pan . have a 22yr old SubZ refrig 501 series I think, all refrig, 32 or 36". Still runs very well tho had to invest $800 3 yrs back. .... And in an upcoming remodel have to decide what to buy Frankly I am not happy with the new Subzeros. Four separate service company techs have commented on "the don't make 'em to last anymore'. At 2 and 3x the price of liebherr, I installed liebherr over subzero 5 years ago in a family cottage kitchen remodel. Am very satisfied with the Liebherr Best of luck...See MoreSmall Condo Furnishing Challenge: Ideas please?
Comments (12)This is just a guess without seeing the floor plan but I think I would be inclined to take the dark granite off the fireplace and make the whole area including the alcove look like one feature wall ...shelving,cabinets and tv. Something simple to jive with the kitchen. Then, I would mostly just ignore trying to make use of just the fireplace section as a feature. It would then be a larger section of feature with the alcove included and you could float some furniture and have better use of the space. Maybe not just like the picture...but you get the idea. Edited to add: this way you could start your area rug all the way down from fireplace toward sliders. It will make your space appear larger....See MoreRenovated small condo galley kitchen and laundry space
Comments (6)In answer to the questions above (I cannot figure out how to comment to each individually - weird): 1. I've been waiting four months for my Bosch 500 series dryer. However, it appears I finally will have it installed this next Monday - the 20th! I learned a lot about ordering appliances from a big box store vs. small appliance store, and I recommend strongly using your local appliance store over big box any day of the week. 2. Thanks to all re the stainless counter. I'm very happy with it. As for cost comparison, given that it's 130" with a built in large sink, backsplash, and drainboard, I'd have to look up those individual costs, but it was less than $4,000, including freight (which was from Charlotte SC to Atlanta). Given that it comes with the plywood attached, the labor cost of putting it in was minimal. It took my contractor's crew all of 10 minutes to get it from the loading dock, up the elevator, to installed....See Morelima1985
