User "Download" folder problem

bengz6westmd

Odd problem win10 pro. My user "Download" folder contents would not show in Explorer. "Working on it" appears and eventually top bar says "not responding" (no problem w/any other folder). Rebooted several times, tried to restore from backup, seemingly restored (overwrote all files) but still couldn't see folder contents. Disk check shows no disk/file problem, windows defender and adwcleaner show no problems. Before restoring to a previous state, just copied user "Download" folder contents from user-file backup on thumbdrive (file history) into a newly created user "Dload" folder and deleted user "Download" folder. Solved problem, but concerned why it occurred.

Open File Explorer and navigate to the C:\Users\Default folder.

In the right side pane, right click the Downloads folder and select Copy.

Navigate to your C:\Users\your name folder.

Right click that folder and select Paste.

Thanks. Didn't have any file/folder named AutomaticDestinations as indicated above, tho alot of files in Recent. So just copied the empty Download folder in the default user folder back to my user folder & moved back the files I'd moved into the created Dload folder (then deleted the Dload folder to get back to normal). Seems OK.
