How to remove stains on Swanstone?

Hello, the Swanstone panels that I received has some black stains on it. I tried using damp cloth and dish soap with no luck. I ordered two sets in white color. A 3-pieces kit that has random black marks and the double 48"x96" has one panel that have mark all over it, coincidentally the Styrofoam that was placed on top of it has black dots all over and even the cardboard box has black dots all over too. And the panel that's at the bottom, under another panel has no marks on it. The 3-pieces kit has pure white Styrofoam and the panels have random black marks, unlike the 48"x96" which has black marks all over the entire panel. What's a save way to try to clean these off? My project is starting soon and I don't have time to exchange so I am really hoping these can be cleaned off. Attached pictures of the black marks and the suspect culprit Styrofoam...

I tried magic eraser yesterday, it only ever so slightly remove very little stain. I tried SoftScrub with blue Scotch Brite pad (non-scratch) and it needed LOTS of elbow grease. Then I tried SoftScrub with green Scotch Brite pad, some elbow grease, good thing is it does remove the black stain entirely. But one panel has too many black marks for me to do it this way so I am going to try Joseph's reco of sanding after I get a chance to buy those this weekend and will report back!

Try a 120, 220, 400, and red Scotchbrite sanding protocol on a random orbital sander, please.

Are there any cleaner I can try first? I am definitely not a DIYer and I am afraid I will mess it up....

You will probably have to re-stain. I redid pickled oak cabinets some years ago and it took a heck of a lot of sanding to get the pickling finish off...it was down to bare wood, especially in the grooves. Donna

Welllll…. Without knowing the material it’s made from, here’s what I would do. First, try a water-dampened cloth warmed in the microwave. Start with gentle pressure and increase, maybe rub gently and see what the surface does. If that doesn’t work, I’d try a damp Magic Eraser, very gently. I’ve never had one stain something but it can mar the finish a bit, but nothing too horrible. That thing looks porous so I wouldn’t use strong or smelly chemicals for fear of it absorbing too much.

Magic eraser will not remove the actual surface.

It's obviously some kind of contamination from the packaging.

Give it a shot, but I'd abrade it.

I emailed a list of cleaner I currently have at home including magic eraser and SoftScrub to Swanstone support and they said I can try both. So I am going to give it a try before I get a chance to buy the materials for abrading this weekend. I will keep everyone posted, thank you!!

I am wondering why you are trying to clean this. If it was delivered this way I would ask for it to be returned and an Undamaged one be delivered not at no cost.

@hcbm because my project is starting soon and there isn’t enough time for an exchange. Shipping alone takes 3 weeks since these shipped out of state to my state in train then schedule for delivery by local carrier company. Since these are super bulk items (60”x96”), I need to take a day off for them to pick up as well, just too much hassle if these can be cleaned off.

You may find you have to refinish the entire panel to get the finish to match; fortunately this isn't a big deal. Go for it.
