Long, dark, low, depressing hall wall color suggestions?
Comments (32)Trees! That would be fun. I had been thinking of a spot to stick up that Cole & Son "Woods" paper, but a smaller pattern might work better with so many doors. And grasscloth. I had looked into it for my entry hall and living room and elsewhere (perfect cover for 50s paneling, right?) and was under the impression that it just wasn't durable enough. I'd love to be wrong. Or find a good faux grasscloth. WHERE does one go to look at wallpaper in person these days? Seriously, are there any more wallpaper stores? You all have not made this easier at all by giving me so many options I hadn't considered! So thanks! :) Do we all agree that the can lights must go, or is replacing them with ones that actually illuminate good enough? With the furnace intake and an attic access panel and four of the recessed lights, I think that the ceiling is sort of busy and making the light fixtures more substantial might help distract from that. Really, this hall isn't awful. I'm putting off the rest of the house because this is actually manageable. Actually I was planning on doing the entry hall which is well-lit and also brown and thought I needed to carry the treatment into this hall which branches off from it but there is a door. I don't have to match! Gee. I need to focus. :)...See MoreHelp! Renting apt with horrible kitchen!
Comments (3)You're so lucky to have an apartment kitchen with a sunny window! Definitely a place to grow some herbs or enjoy your morning coffee. Suggest to the landlord that you'll gladly provide paint and labor if he could do something about the ceiling. It's so uplifting to you right now, to see pictures of those you love. Do you have a large frame you can make them more comfortable in, than on the refrigerator door? I hope the extension cord lurking in the doorway is there for move-in work only, and that it isn't going to try to trip you some morning....See Morehelp with rooftop apt decoration
Comments (22)elizabetheva Thanks. Yes the niche will be a media center though it is a little high. We have a 50" tv and I was thinking of having some nice shelves on either side for Cds and DVDs. That part of the wall was outside before, it had a built-in bench. We were unable to break the back of the bench so when we renovated, we had to straighten the wall and decided to create a niche above the bench. To the right of the niche, we want to build a metal and wood shelves. Hopefully with a few doors as the open plan doesn't leave leave us with a lot of storage. Oh and for the fun of it, here are a few before pictures. I think Olychick and cat_mom might like to see them. Yes it was quite the reno project and we almost doubled the size of the kitchen/living area. I will come back with pics of new kitchen this week end. Once installed, we might see better what to do. I am hoping our cabinet maker will be able to revamp an old buffet for the dining space....See MoreHelp with studio apt floor plan and colors
Comments (48)loved this side table! But again, how do I stay cohesive with the design style? All these wood finishes throw me off not sure how to mix furniture pieces or style without making it too busy... Also my friend suggested that these tables are so low.. My couch is lower but what size do I want to go with? Lastly... I haven't chosen a rug yet but been looking.. Might find a more ombre stipled looking neutral one is what I'm thinking... Maybe in cream and beige tones... But I don't know what size yet. Not sure if it should be the length of my whole couch, or if it should exclude the area that the ottomon/chaise section will be. I see this done either way... But not sure and don't know if maybe I could get a second small rug for under kitchen table to increase the emphasis on seperate kitchen/living space... Is that too busy? Ahh! Sorry for These long posts but this has all been hugely helpful and I am really appreciative of the feedback and good advice! Also will be purchasing two accent chairs that will double as additional kitchen table chairs when needed, not sure about the placement of the chairs and if they should be all on same living room rug?! Thanks ladies!...See Moreloobab
