Decorating rooms with whole walls of windows.....
Comments (14)Like Demifloyd, we're on a lake, so the back of the house is full of french doors and large windows. Most of the photos in the house tour do not focus directly on the windows/doors, but you can imagine three sets of french doors in the great room, the lower den has two triple sets, the bamboo bedroom has one triple set. The sunroom has three walls of windows, where the bedroom below (the shabby chic room) has two walls. Demifloyd and I have complained to each other more than once about not having the wall space for artwork in our newer homes as compared to our last. For me, it was all about paring down and deciding what needed to be put (or given) away... while remembering every single wall space doesn't need to have something on it - never take away from the view or make the room feel cluttered. The eyes need a space to visually rest. Love the Christmas shot, jakabedy. Pal, doesn't look like a hotel space any more. I thought it must belong to one of your patients that became a client. Comments (22)Well, I would rather have the room painted before the new furniture is moved in. Thank you for the compliment re color palette. I am leaning towards cream colors for sofa and chair. Since this room is in the visual from the kitchen, it need to be the same color in my opinion. It will not looked chopped up this way....See MoreHelp with accent wall paint color in living room!
Comments (5)No accent walls, please. They are for people who can't pick art, and/or who don't know how to choose colors which which to accessorize pillows, rugs, objets d'art, etc. The sofa, chair and bench in your photo are fine, but the throw pillow covers are a serious snooze. And please re-think gray as an accent color, it is neither cheerful nor hospitable. If you like ecru. you can have pillow covers in that color with a lot of texture, something along the lines of a cable knit, like an aran sweater. Williams-Sonoma has marvelous throw pillows to give you some inspiration. Look how great those plants look in the photo, green would make a great accent color, and you can add touches of black to ground the room and add sophistication and drama. You can have a black tray on a table, some black and green in art....See MoreAccent wall, two-tone, or paint entire room??
Comments (16)@Marylee that’s a great point. The current house paint color thru the whole house is called Ashen, and to me it looks just as drab as it sounds. Lightening the wall up but leaving the ceiling would probably be great, and then maybe add some long drapes with color for the color I’m trying to bring into the the space!...See MoreJ J
