Not that you need to slavishly repeat the original, but just for inspiration and to know what the design intention was My colors were all these various golds and browns and creams that were somewhat different but closely related and repeated throughout the house. Except for the kiitchen which as a deep green, a nursery room had a deep navy blue and bathroom was gray. Anyhoo - google arts & crafts colors - those would be the colors of early 1900s and would fit the style I think. Ceiling and part of wall above rail should be same color. That looks to me like original shellacked fir or pine. It looks red because its contrasting so strongly with the blue-green....See MorePainted and Stained Two-Toned Cabs: Wood and Painted Crown Meeting?

Photo-realistic is another story, but a general idea of the relationships should be easy enough unless you're still working with a pencil or 2D CAD. My preference is that it is ok to change modling color at an end of a run but it is always up to the client. First one shows two options of the 4 that the client was shown and a photo of the result. Second is flat molding-again client was shown multiple options to make final choice. Then something we are working on now. Very little of this is actually settled as the client is having difficulty settling on colors. Because of the color issue I did the first image which is more realistic but far more time consuming to produce so not as reasonable to expect (requires a render specific software program that I am just learning-the rendering was done with the gracious help of a professional renderer Rene from Rabbitt Construction). The other images were done within our standard design software but still need work on lighting (backsplash also needs to be resolved)...See MoreTwo-tone walls with no chair rail?
Comments (1)It's color blocking. Farrow & Ball does this often; check out their Instagram. You want to use divine geometry to get the proportions of color right. Google Golden Ratio, Fibonacci. I use this program for just about everything I layout graphically. Link has lots of Golden Ratio info. PhiMatrix - Golden Ratio Design Psychologically, we expect darker colors to be lower (like dirt) and light colors to be higher (sky and clouds). It's our innate reference of color balance how we use color to decode the world....See MoreAccent Wall or Paint Whole Room or Leave It As Is
Comments (31)I would paint a soft muted color on all the walls. It will make your bedroom feel like you are entering a new space since all your other walls are Alabaster. Since the rest of the room is neutral, you can use almost any other color that you love - blues, greens, blush, etc....See Moreartsfan
