mewr, I am biased. I sell Behr all day long, and have been doing so for the last 13 years, after a 4 decade career as a painting contractor ( I am 75, if you are wondering). I can only tell you that it is highly rated By Consumers Reports. I can also tell you I have used most of the Behr products on and in my own house and have never had a complaint. Most contractors have an understandable bias also. They are comfortable with the products they know, and brand names which customers know. I was the same way back in my contracting days. I knew the Ben Moore products and my customers recognition of the Moore name. One caution is to always be aware of what line of a name brand paint you or your contractor is using. All the majors make really crap lines for contractors doing "blow and go" production work, to really good products. Know which line to use. Go to the paint store and ask them to explain what you are buying. My "go to" paint for interior paint is Behr Premium Plus Ultra Matte, but then, I live in a sedate adult environment. Were I still raising a family, I would probably opt for eggshell for general use. I would spend the $5 or $6 extra dollars for Ultra over regular Premium Plus. It is an extremely dense, inherently mildew resistant, stain resistant, stain blocking, high adhesion paint, largely due to its "nano" technology. Behr introduces nano-ized zinc into the resin to make the paint film more dense. You might recall that zinc is toxic to plant life, which is what mildew and algae are. Although ALL Behr paints include a chemical mildecide also. All three of the Behr main lines are 100% acrylic based, and use strictly titanium oxide as their white pigment. The Ultra line runs in the low to mid $30's per gallon. The main reason to possibly go to the Marquee line is that it guaranteed one coat coverage if thew approved palette of colors is used. the one caveat is that the walls must be well sealed. Going over "contractors grade" paint won't do. The color would cover, but the sheen would be streaky in only one coat. The argument for Marquee is that one coat of a $40 per gallon paint is cheaper than two coats of a $30 paint, plus you save a lot of labor not having to go around twice. Finally, let me state that I am writing this from my home, after having worked all day. I get no bonus for giving out advice during my evenings, nor do I even own stock in Home Depot ( although the stock is flying high and I wish I had bought it 13 years ago when it was 30 something)!

We have these side tables from Westelm, and they have some dings in them. The white finish is the same finish as all the other white stuff in their store. A lot of those stores sell touch up markers or paints for their standard finishes, but I tried emailing WE customer service to no avail. Anyone have any ideas on a good match for painting dings for this line? x-posting in furniture. Had I done this job your complaints (except for the inconsistent stain on the tread) would be covered by the disclaimer "Does not include any touchup painting or a complete dust cleanup" that goes on every proposal. If asked, I will mask off adjacent surfaces but stain and finish often work their way up behind the tape. I also charge more to do so. My position is that if an adjacent surface is just a standard paint, it's cheaper to repaint than to mask off, considering that there still may be some touchup needed. If the adjacent surface is faux finished, stone or finished cabinetry, we will take extra care. Of course that costs more so we charge more. I regularly tell clients not to finish paint before the floor sanding and finishing. We'll be sanding next to vertical surfaces at least twice, then applying finish. Are you sure the finisher didn't tape the base? In one of your pictures the base looks good but the adjacent casing appears to have the issue I mentioned, that the stain wicked up between the tape and the paint. We use dust pickup so generally we don't leave much dust but accidents do happen Like a Trio bag blowing off). We don't charge a penny for dust cleanup and don't do any beyond what is required to get the floor done right. Part of this is because my guys are more expensive than dedicated cleaners (and less skilled) while another part is that fact that we're often among the last people on a job and may be expected to clean up messes from every trade that preceded us without compensation. Contractors here usually hire a professional crew to clean from top to bottom after all the trades are done. A skilled painter shouldn't have any problem touching up your trim. Walls and trim are painted more frequently than floors are finished so this is typically not a challenge.

I have proof that they chipped the tub which is why the tub company isn't going to pay for it. They know, too even though they don't have the proof. These contractors are such nice people and I know they will have to pay out of their pocket to replace the tub. I was worried that they will just throw it together the second time around. They've already been paid in full, yet there is still a few things unfinished and calls to them go unanswered. That was not the original place for the sticker. I took photos throughout the entire remodel and came across that picture and realized that they lied about the sticker placement to make me think the tub company did it.
